What is going on in silver lately?
Long time player here, since before seasons and elo resets were a thing....
So i placed into silver 3, and started making progress upwards. The progress wasnt very fast, but it was consistant. I hit gold promos 4 times and failed to progress each time. There were no big winning streaks, no big losing streaks, games were more even. There weren't 20 kills by 10 minutes every game. It was like every other season of ranked ive played.
Now? since about the start of October ive been getting really bad players in game. Massive losing streaks, and smallish winning streaks. Its become very streaky. I've been drug down to silver 4 and have made it back to 3 again, trying to work my way back up. I dont understand what changed solo q so much though. It seems that every game people are playing full tilt from minute one. Its not uncommon for someone to have died 5-10 times by 15 minutes. Every game has turned into a 20-30 minute stomp fest that is really decided around 10 mins. I play conservatively and cannot carry harder than the people are feeding. I dont recall ever experiencing solo q being this bad in all of the 4 seasons i've played. Why did it chance so drastically in october? Why did i feel like i was in control of my rating before, only to be playing a game of dice now?
I just dont get it... is it people chasing rewards? Is it because silver is the placement dumping grounds? Why is everyone playing full tilt? WTF IS GOING ON IN SILVER
Here is my lolking. http://www.lolking.net/summoner/na/21063138 Check out the expanded graph to see what im talking about. consistant, no huge swings, then all hell breaks lose in october.
I will say this though, having been at the tip top of silver, and the bottom of silver 4, there is quite a huge difference between the two. Mid silver feels like a complete roll of the dice decided by matchmaking. you can have a mid silver player who does not belong there and way higher, or ones that belong way lower. Matchmaking and chance plays a huge huge huge role in mid silver.
