League of Meta

The LoL meta has shifted towards stopwatch being taken on almost everyone in any role on any champion. The bot lane has more targon procs than a low elo game has wards (or a collective IQ of all 10 players) and this brings up the question. Should stopwatch be nerfed or are there alternatives to change the stopwatch?

Well.. the ladder isn't really possible. Stopwatches are just meta, treat it like an enemy flash except now they cant move so.. Just remember that at least you can use it unlike a certain player on a certain team on a certain champion with 1 massive save redo ability with a zhonyas up but still dies in a game deciding team fight near dragon pit...

sidenote: On the TL vs TSM match, TSM only had 2 stopwatches on their team while TL had 4. TSM had 4 stopwatches while FlyQuest had 3. So clearly, 4-2=2 So it was obvious they went 0-2 Being surprised about this is really weird because I easily predicted this.

real talk tho rito plz nerf stopwatch

riot is not going to nerf stopwatch itself, they are way more likely to nerf the rune way before the item

I don't really see the reasoning behind that, stopwatch is more of an issue than the rune itself. im not against the idea of stopwatch, just a tad nerf

it's a one time use item that then occupies space in your inventory till it's upgraded and it costs 600 gold and provides zero stats... the item itself is very well balanced. The rune just essentially gifts you 600 gold and increases the cost of the upgrades by 300 which results in the upgrades being 300 gold cheaper since you didn't pay the initial 600 gold. The rune itself is why so many people start with stopwatches and it's the main source of imbalance

shit im not mason i dont know the numbers and what they mean

but real talk i didnt even think of that. what would be a good way to approach the nerf then? make it act like a one time consumable then leaves the inventory after using it? (it just wouldnt be a consumable since klepto would become OP)

or what ways could it be fixed?

like i said, just nerf the rune itself. Make it so that you still have to fully pay for the upgrades instead of them being 300 gold cheaper. Make it so that the item itself comes a bit later, right now it comes at 6 minutes... why not make it 8? or 10? or even better make it so that it competes with magical footware by moving either rune to the same row as the other so if you choose inspiration as your primary tree you cannot have both magical footware rune and the free stopwatch rune. You will still be able to take them together if it's your secondary tree but at least it limits inspiration to being a secondary tree if you want to get both magical footware and the free stopwatch so no Keystone
