Is yasuo a fair and balanced champion?

Legend4ay··3 votes·1,583 views

the more it seems i play yasuo, the more people hate me and just think that i am a god at the same time. I have had 7 pvp pentakills with him and that is a reason that people say that he is overpowered. I do believe that he is indeed fair. yes it is easy to get a hang of his playstyle but hard to master him(same as zed). generally, when you encounter a good yasuo player and he beats you and then gets fed and three shots your carry, people always bring up the sense that he shouldn't be able to do that. I mean, he is fed and when someone is fed, they tend to do that. There is also a lot of counterplay to yasuo. simply staying back when his tornados are charged can do a lot more to him than you think. also, running away into your minion wave when he chases you is not a good idea either. someone might also say that he can have 100 percent crit chance with just to items is ridiculous. His crits all do 10 percent less damage and even less on his Q. lategame, your ad carry's will be dealing more damage than a yasuo will. I just want to know your guys's opinion on this topic. thanks.

A yasuo is also extremely vulnerable while under any kind of crowd control

So is almost everyone. Only tanks aren't entirely boned by CC and even then they're not really big fans of it.

Any squishies are extremely vulnerable while under any kind of crowd control. ok maybe excluding GP.

As a mage main, I actually think yasuo is fairly balanced. You can outplay him, he can outplay you. Yes his windwall may be frustrating at times and his dash can piss you off, but other than that I think he is a pretty fair champion.

And I especially love the Viktor or Lissandra vs Yasuo

No. He has too many tools in his kit to negate the abilities of too many other champions.

The outcome of a matchup with Yasuo depends almost entirely on the Yasuo player, rather than being a fair competition of the two players' skills. Did Yasuo mess up? You can kill him and win. Did he make no mistakes? You can't really do anything, since he has an answer for anything you can throw at him.

^ This.

He's terrible from a design perspective because of it. Yasuo holds ALL the power in any lane he's in. IF he messes up, he dies. If he plays well, you can't do squat to him. The only thing keeping him from being the most overpowered thing in existence is how difficult he is to play to perfection. It doesn't mean the guy fighting him is having any fun facing him tho. He's just rolling the dice and hoping Yas decides to do something stupid.

Fun fact... 10% less damage on crits is still a LOT of bonus damage. Hell, let's say his crits do 180% damage instead of 200%. A 20% loss. Let's also say to keep our math easy that Yasuo has EXACTLY 100 AD. (He'd have more after getting two items and hitting 100% crit chance, but meh. It's just an example) Ok, so Yasuo flies at you to trade because you have dared to stand near your minions (if you're melee and don't want to lose farm, this is inevitable).

Yas dashes into you doing his piddly dash damage, then autos you. Crit. 180 damage + his static shiv proc (because let's be honest, he rushed shiv) doing an extra 50-120 damage... which ALSO crits. So let's say it does 50, the MINIMUM. So with his crit reduction in damage, that's only 90 damage more from the shiv crit. He then mashes Q to reset his AA, landing another crit instantly for another 180 + the damage bonus on his Q (which I can't recall off the top of my head). In the span of a half-second, he's done 360+ physical damage and 90 magic damage. WITHOUT the doubled crit he'd have done 250. You talk like the -10% crit damage is a HUGE deal, but even with that he's STILL got a passive that gives him 80-90% more damage on his autos on EVERY attack once he hits his second item. (Fun fact, most games are decided in midgame when everyone has 2 or 3 items).

This is a thing I see from Yas players a LOT. "But there's a downside to it!". "If I use wind wall it's on a REALLY long cooldown!". "If I dash in without enough minions I can't dash out!". "Sure I crit every time, but for 10% less damage!". No, you crit on EVERY hit for 80% MORE damage. Your wind wall is a basic ability that nullifies ranged spells, ults and auto attacks. Your dash gives you nearly limitless mobility and zones the enemy from CS in lane. Your shield gives you a refreshing pool of bonus HP and you don't need to do ANYTHING to use it properly. Your ult is a massive CC nuke that also removes most of the armor anyone you hit with it has bought. Yas can kill tanks, carries, assassins, bruisers and mages, hit kit has the tools in it to outplay and slaughter ANYONE... it's just difficult to use to 100% effectiveness.

That doesn't make him balanced! "But... I don't do the damage of a lategame adc" isn't a flaw. It's a trait that EVERY CHAMPION IN THE GAME has who isn't a lategame adc! He's a melee fighter! What's more, lategame Yasuo WILL destroy a lategame adc in roughly two hits... Said carry however will probably not be able to do the same thru Yas' shield, wind wall and the fact that Yas probably built semi-tanky after getting his 100% crit. The fact that he can even come CLOSE to the damage of an endgame carry is a massive bonus in his favor.

Yas players complaining about his kit or talking about his "weaknesses" reminds me of someone winning the lottery, getting 14 million dollars and then complaining that it COULD have been 15 million. It's some kinda weird, self-entitled thing where they think that he SHOULD be able to spam wind wall every 2 seconds, dash without minions there and ignore ALL of a tank's armor instead of only 70%. "I'm Yasuo, I should be able to hit 100% crit off ONE item, but I can't so it's balanced.". Not many other champs in the game can do the same absurd crap that Yasuo can and the ones who can are usually HIDEOUSLY OP. The ONLY weakness to Yasuo is how easy he is to misplay with. So please Yas players, stop griping about Yasuo and how he's weak at this or not godly at that. Not everyone is amazing at everything and has a kit with an answer to anything and everything. Not everyone gets a mountain of free stats, snowballs absurdly hard, scales extremely hard and can still wombo to win a teamfight from behind. Not every champ can go 0/5 in lane and still be a threat once they finally stumble into their second item. These are not weaknesses, these are strengths. Your champion is ABSURDLY strong. You're just not good enough to use him right.

i agree with that everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses a good player can beat anyone that they're better than. i do believe that skill can overcome any counter you might have.

The Whamboozler1 votes

Yes, the issue is when a champion has more strengths than others... or less weaknesses... or both.

To not just continue on about Yas, take Ekko for example. There isn't much that he lacks, and he has an answer for everything. He has poke, burst, mobility, hard cc, TONS of slows, a MS boost, a shield, an escape that heals him OR nukes, % damage for hurting tanks... etc etc. He can build nearly anything and do well, and his kit is extremely powerful and loaded with utility and mobility.

Imagine trying to "outplay" Ekko as someone like Cho'gath. He's just an example, and not many people will say Cho is a weak champ, but Ekko will run rings around him and pop out with his R if he is in the slightest bit of danger. What's more, Ekko is probably just as useful to his team in teamfights and skirmishes than Cho, if not more so. Because Cho is an old champ who does one or two things well and has a lot of weaknesses and downsides. Ekko has few to none. You'd need to be an exceptionally good Cho to beat that Ekko, and you'd probably have to do it by preying on his teammates since the little time-brat is untouchable by you unless he wants to go in.

Skill is important, and it should always be the deciding factor in who wins a fight... but a lot of champs just plain have more options, stats and utility than their peers. Winning with these champs is easier, and requires less skill. Two players of equal skill fighting will see the overloaded champ win more often than not. When you get to high ELO and everyone plays super well it's less an issue, but at high Elo everyone is pretty much forced to play the crazy overloaded champs or they'll get rekt by the players who do. At high Elo these OP champs with absurd kits aren't just stronger they're nigh MANDATORY, since the enemy will be using one and he will exploit every weakness you have.

I've been zoned by level two Yasuos so many times.

Yasou is a pub stomper and a low elo god, like Yi. BUt in higher rankings he becomes countered if you want to counter yasou be diana she is the same level of BS

Yasuo can easily snowball pre 6. Diana can't do much vs him early. Later she can 1shot him, if he doesn't build MR, but he can block her Q, so she can't double R, if she wants to all-in him. I guess you have played against bad Yasuos as Diana to think that she counters him. Yasuo's early game is decent - manaless, easy waveclear, has some poke and shields.

DucksAreMagical1 votes

No its just as yasou, the diana had gone bot lane because in Bronze they never ward (yes im bronze because 9/1 wins in placement = B 4) and would get 2 kills, and around an extra level and then just farm in lane until I become open enough to get popped by her Q (I do wind shield but 21 cd to like a 5 cd)

The Whamboozler2 votes

One game you lost does not = OMG she counters me!

What happened was you let her roam and get fed off bot, and then she was strong enough to fight you. Not that she "countered" you.

The Whamboozler4 votes

No. MALZAHAR counters Yasuo. ANNIE counters Yasuo. (Though "counter" is a strong term as Yas can outplay even his own counters if he's VERY good) Diana relies on a ranged skillshot and that is exactly the sort of champ Yasuo excels at fighting.

Try again tho.

Actually anyone with skills that can go through Windwall is a good counter to Yasuo. Xerath's Q, his main poke and damage, goes through it, and a good Xerath will will hit their skillshots even against a Yas

Whenever I see Yasuo and I'm mid I just pick Malzahar.

yes he is balanced but his kit is quite overloaded
