Why doesn't Braum have any late-game damage potential?

Obviously Braum is a tank, I'm not arguing that. But, others supports can often gain damage from AP or at least have some sort of scaling damage built into their kits. Just look at the other supports:

Bard: Some AP ratios for healing and damage. Collecting chimes increases damage and utility.

Thresh: Has some AP ratios for damage. Gets free AP from souls and on-hit damage from souls.

Tahm: Has massive % damage that is good at any time in the game. Also gets decent on-hit damage from building HP.

Janna: AP ratios give utility and some damage.

Lulu: ^

Nami:^

Sona:^

Soraka:^

Karma:^

Blitzcrank: Actually decent AP Ratios if he really wants to build AP.

Leona: AP ratios, but far more base damage in her kit.

So, lets talk about Braum real quick. His Q has terrible scaling based off of a % of his HP. You can go full tank and the damage still manages to be almost irrelevant late game and that's mostly from decent base damage. 3000 health will net you a meager 75 damage on his Q.

W and E don't deal damage.

R Has a 0.6AP ratio, but as the only AP ratio in his kit, it could be 1.0AP and nobody would build AP just like Blitz.

The only other damage comes from his passive, which (damage wise) acts like Leona's passive if you can manage 4 hits on an opponent and then adds a teeny tiny little on-hit magic damage while they are in the after-stunned state. It scales purely on level with no outside scaling.

There is literally no other scaling damage in his kit.

So, my idea is that simply this: Take that teeny tiny little on-hit magic damage from the after effect of his passive and make it a small percent based off of the opponent's health. Something like 1 to 2% (it could scale with level) of the opponent's max health in magic damage. This is a tiny buff vs tanks and juggernauts that would make a Braum player happy and it would never get out of hand due to Braum's awful attack speed.

Because for some reason shield bashing Wukong 12 times does nothing after the initial stun and that doesn't make me happy.

Not sure why every champion needs to be a carry, Braum does tank support very well and to add more damage to his kit would be to sterilize him by removing some of his utility.

no dear god no we don't need tanky supports dealing any more damage than they already do, especially in the late game where tanks' damage is supposed to fall off anyway. i've had more than enough of the juggernaut update and garen slapping my teammates with a fat true damage execute while maintaining full tank stats (and a full hp bar). braum has more than enough utility to remain relevant later on in the game, and he does not need damage to back it up.

"would never get out of hand due to braum's awful attack speed"? mate. if he auto-Q's a target and then two other people on his team auto that target, you've got a near instant proc of his passive. i'm sure you know this. i'm sure you understand how quickly braum's passive can applied to all relevant champions in a teamfight. league does not need braum getting %Max HP magic damage on his passive anymore than we needed Garen's E amping damage on a single target by 33%.

Tank supports already do a lot in a game and generally they do more than all the utility supports you mentioned, with janna being an exception. To be honest I'd rather have sona be as tanky as braum than her dealing damage, so with soraka. Also buffing braum after they just recently nerfed is probably not the way to go. Now if they buffed his damage but reduced his tankyness by a good amount then yeah that would be fine.

You are right, however I have no problem with this as a Braum player because you chunk squishies with your Q anyway.

Do you remember Braum on release? His after-stun passive actually had AP scaling, I think it was something between 0.1 to 0.3 AP, something really mediocre. His Q base damage also got nerfed kinda hard. Some people still played Braum as a top lane fighter with Iceborn Gauntlet, Sunfires, Ravenous Hydra. The CC keeps people under Sunfire's AoE and near Braum's autoattacks.

You are also right with the fact that Braum shouldn't as much damage as a late game Soraka because he IS a tank. I find that Thresh simply deals more damage because he has more, available damaging abilities, albeit a less disruptive kit. I find that Leona support slighly out tanks Braum support and subsequently deals more damage to him because of that. The trade-off being Braum having stronger CC in his kit, if he lands it.

I have a lot of fun as Braum because he typically doesn't care if he's being kited by an ADC because he can just shield it up if no one is around to use Stand Behind Me. I'm pretty sure Braum's inital burst with his full combo deals close to around 450 to 550 damage discounting extra autoattacks between and during CC which can deal around 65 to 110, when you take into account how much CC he has in this combo, I think you'll find that he is fine the way he is.

This kind of reasoning was what broke sejuani.

His Q scales with his HP - that's a lot better than most other Tank Supports. Not to mention the fact that he has CC and Utility for days.
