What League are you in? I'm just curious because I am a noob silver and I usually stomp with veigar unless I don't ward enough.

Is he really bad in the upper level divisions or what? It's just the same thread over and over saying how he was nerfed into oblivion but he's the only champ I've ever played that can one shot a carry. Obviously lower division doesn't know how to itemize well either but seriously what is it?

Veiger would be in a perfect place right now if they just increased the land speed of his W. Everything else in his kit is fine. He has strong burst but has counterplay. The nerf to his stun was absolutely necessary, but they didn't compensate him quite enough. That is my take on it anyway.

People aren't necessarily complaining because Veigar is "bad". It's that he's still noticeably worse from where he started and Riot said the changes were essentially a "compensation buff" for dfg removal, which they were not. Everything they changed about Veigar was a nerf minus the Q which is a more neutral change that had trade-offs. The main things is that they took power away from every part of his kit and put none back into it, and do not say he gets more ap from his Q because he does not. Less kills = less ap. Same number of minions = same ap. Less to zero kill pressure until mid game = bullied in lane = more difficult to farm = less farm = less ap

Riot said they were giving him a "compensation buff". I would just like to actually see one no matter how small, just so we can actually say he got something out of this whole ordeal.

veigar's even played as support in the lcs, though idk why, tons of champs do a better job, but if you've got a melee assassin mid, it's good to have a mage

veigar has < 30% win rate in master+ since patch 5.4, 0% in the last month (picked 4x and won 0).

its because people recognize his weaknesses at that level (to dive champions and poke(no regen/spell vamp and low health pool)... and assassins) and people who are capable of forcing him out of lane entirely to miss cs, it severely gimps him when he doesn't have his farm.

its so easy to deny a veigar or just towerdive and pop him from 100-0.

because his stun isn't instant, he can not do anything other than flash, tower intimidation, team peels, or die. there is no wiggle room, he has no outplay mechanic. he is team reliant now more than ever.

this should clear things up - dabox quit. bjergsen who occasionaly played veigar in ranked hasn't played him at all since 5.4, has stated who the meta champs were (zed and viktor being the strongest) and urgot was a niche pick to counter those dive assassins, and several others were sub par but could accomplish things. veigar didn't make the list (among 15mid laners he mentioned).

other players like scarra, hotshotgg, pobelter, faker, XWX, all have stopped playing him entirely.

Veigar lost every ounce of dueling potential he had when his W was effectively removed from his arsenal. Anyone not shoveling applesauce down their windpipes is able to dodge the thing, and since it was designed to work with his stun, it'll only land if the enemy is stupid enough to walk into the fence. His teamfight is good, nobody can deny that, its his effectiveness in lane that made him so terrible in terms of fighting competent players. All Veigar can do now is punish stupid plays, he isn't reliant in any way on his own skill like he used to be, so that's why theres QQ.

He's fine lower elo, but higher elo people know how to deal with him. Itemization kills Veigar in higher elo, combined with other counterplay. At low elo/mmr, we can do things like http://prntscr.com/7f3azx , but that won't happen at high elo/mmr.
