A question on ezreal and Sheen

MeatSauceIsMeaty··2 votes·1,409 views

Lets say you build trinity force for the early game power, and also decide to build ice-born gauntlet for some armor and the slows. NOW. Because sheen's spell blade is a unique passive they do not stack. So my question is which item's sheen would be used?

This is important because Trinity force's sheen does 200% bonus damage. and Gauntlet's sheen uses 100% bonus damage. SO which sheen is used?

The one who gets hit by the Auto Attack/Q itself gets hit by Trinity Force. Everyone around gets hit by Iceborn.

by why wouldnt that auto attack use iceborn's sheen?

It does, just not on the person who actually got hit by your attack. The person who got hit takes the damage from Trinity Force's spellblade because it does twice as much damage.

Basically, if you fire a Q, the guy your Q hits takes the [200% Base AD] damage from Triforce proc, while the Iceborn ice field and [100% Base AD] proc applies around your target.

They don't both deal damage to the main target because 300% Base AD procs would be really stupid.

Riot coded Spellblade to the user's advantage; it automatically chooses the Spellblade that does the most damage.

Lich Bane and Trinity Force are funny in this way btw. Iceborn less so, since it's almost always weaker.

The primary target would take damage from Trinity Force's Sheen.

Iceborn Gauntet's Spellblade would still apply (providing the slow-field and damage to units around the primary target), but it wouldn't damage the primary target.

so trinity would spell blade my autos... not iceborn?

Suppose I were to hit an enemy with a Spellblade-enhanced autoattack while I owned both Trinity Force and Iceborn Gauntlet..

  1. The target would take damage equal to 200% of my base AD.
  2. An AoE slow-field would appear around my target
  3. Enemies around my target (within the slow-field) would take damage equal to 100% of my base AD.

so the 100% sheen proc is due to the AoE damage not my abilities?
