Skarner --- Juggernaut Changes

I dont understand where these changes came from. He already had a rework, unique kit and was doing really well. If its not broken why try to fix it? He is my main and I would much rather help gank than play twisted treeline minigames in the jungle for the entire game. I feel like this will alter his gameplay so much that you have to go lockdown the altars or else the other team gets gold. So if you arent playing with neutral camp control you are giving the other team free gold/vision. I may be overreacting but this change came out of nowhere and it seems like a crappy little spin to get people to play him more. Anyways, thoughts?
