Normals has always been kinda wonky when it comes to match making. If you want to play casually but don't want messed up match making just make a smurf. That way when you don't wanna try-hard you can just play ranked on your smurf and still have balanced match making.

Blue side by default has a 60% winrate if the sides are evenly matched in MMR. Just a bias based on the map. To compensate, Riot puts more skilled players on the Red side. I guess in that match up they couldn't find the right groups of people for the premades.

People bitched about que times. RIOT changed the matchmaking algorithm to shorten que times. People bitch about matchmaking. You can't make everyone happy. I want the old way back because I'd rather have a good game then a fast que. Just my opinion but matchmaking is horrible and most games are wipeouts one way or the other. I don't see how that is healthy for the game but the geniuses at RIOT must think it is.

wait. is this a normal?

normal games and ranked games have separate mmr in the background. someone who plays almost no normals over the course of the season and ranks up to diamond, will not increase his normal mmr.

thats why you end up with massive skill differences in normals on the same team.

you should see what happens every year when ranked ladders close and everyone plays normals for the duration.
