Wukong was nerfed way too agressively

I understand that Wukong's damage was too high, but the nerfs have left him in a worse spot than when his Q was intially buffed as compensation for item 3147 being nerfed. The Q buffs put him in a better spot, but the introduction of item 3095 and it's synergy with item 3147 gave him damage he didn't quite deserve. I get it. But still, does that justify:

  • Revoking the Q buff, making Wukong even weaker than he was before stormrazer was introduced.
  • Weakening his early jungling and waveclear by nerfing his E.
  • Removing most of his assassination potential by nerfing electrocute, sudden impact and celerity.
  • Giving him an even harder time by buffing tanks.

Wukong was one of the only champs that managed to go multiple years without any sort of major buffs or nerfs, I feel like just removing the Q buffs initially given to him during the initial nerf of item 3147 would have been sufficient rather than making him even worse than he was then when he was just ignored for 5 years. Now he can't do anything. He can't assassinate, he can't tank and he's a poor bruiser.

Are there any plans to address this?

A few days ago Meddler said: "Wukong however's been hit pretty hard by the combination of direct nerfs and Rune changes. We'll see whether he stabilizes before potentially making changes to him (burst threshold changes add a brief but noticeable relearning period). If he remains as weak as he's currently looking we'll want to do something for him, likely in a way that doesn't add burst damage back (so something like sustained damage, tankiness, regen etc)"

Today they buffed his attack speed on the PBE. I don't know if they have any future plans or if they're going to see how much this helps before doing anything else. They're probably worried about turning him back into the overly oppressive, one-shotting monster that he was.

I don't even know why they nerfed him. he wasn't strong to begin with if you knew how the lane went. Or how to deal with him in teamfights. He was basically an AD version of AP Malphite

Every other champion in the game has to deal with nerfed runes, so I don't think that's a valid point.

IMO, they were misplaced nerfs. The item synergy between item 3095 and item 3147 is the issue and has been an issue for other champions as well. Resolve that and restore MonkeyKing to previous state.

I love that MonkeyKing went so long without major changes. That should be the key indicator that the item synergy between item 3095 and item 3147 is a problem, not the champion.

The game has few relatively unchanged, somewhat balanced champions. Once we start thinking about changing them, something's messed up somewhere else in the balance aspect.

  1. no body complains wukong above diamond 2. Think why?
  2. People complain about duskblade, ghostblade, item 3095 etc. on wukong op. Okay, so give that shit to zed is not op? So zed can't one shot your squishy bottom one shot? Lol.
  3. ask, how the f did that monkey get get to own a ghostblade or duskblade before you get to your firs item, and what kind of pudding build are you on.
  4. if you lost to a monkey in lane, trust me, you did not get out played, you got out smarted.

you're nuts, ive been one shot by wukong many times since his nerfs, still needs more in my opinion, since he bursts you then stealths back out while his clone blocks your abilities lol, top lane he might feel weaker, but any assassin should feel weaker top lane

Wu had highest win rate in 8.16, they’re currently still trying to rebalance him.
