Why do AFKs force us to lose LP?

When a player in a game goes AFK and disconnects ( When found "guilty" and punished by tribunal ) That match shouldn't impact your LP at all.

So many games players AFK in my promo's and I just have to "deal with it and report them" Why do these matches impact my LP at all? Its out of my control whether or not someone decides to afk and its a poorly designed system in my opnion. If SOMEONE else dc's why do i lose LP? They are the one who DC'd they should lose LP and get a low priority queue, I should not lose LP for someone else afking.

So that means you shouldn't gain LP if someone on the other team afks?

Yes and the opposing team wouldnt lose LP because their teammate AFK'd

Riot addressed this saying that teams would pressure a teammate to afk so that they wouldn't lose LP
