Maybe they are pre-made?

Perhaps the match-making system wasn't even in play.

Though I don't understand why it matched your particular team up to them - maybe Team Builder just tries to find games as quickly as possible in 5v5s as long as you have a few summoners near rank of others.

Did they play like they had voice-chat and were always together/working with one another?

I only ask because how can we be sure it simply wasn't a pre-made of diamonds getting smacked into a game because there were no 5-sized teams of highers rank at the time for them to take on.

It's a serious problem for me. I like to use team builder to try new things but the opponent quality is really spotty.

sigh I hate trying new roles and lanes in team builder lately because for some reason I always get the higher leveled player in that role (even though I never play the role/char) and everyone else in my team gets the person who is new to it. It's sort of annoying because I don't feel comfortable ranking in yet I don't think I have enough experience. So trying something new always seems to backfire on me. We might win but the predictable outcome is that I am going 1 for 1 in kills to death ratios.
