The Current State of Gangplank

Gangplank is a fun loving champion that just doesnt get enough love. If he was tankier his ability to give steroids and slow the enemy team could be useful in top and mid lane. I think this champion deserves a buff.

The advantage of playing Gangplank is that he is extremely versatile. You can go full tank and stick to carries/peel for your team, you can go full glass cannon and 2 shot their mid/adc, you can build a splitpush build, a kiting build, and even an AP build.

His lvl 1 and lvl 2 duels are among the best in the game and he's also got the highest base health of all the champions at lvl 1.

He is very strong early and falls off a little mid game. Once he has 4-6 items he is very strong, his ultimate and his Raise Morale provide a lot of utility in teamfights as long as you have strong cc and initiation to follow up and catch/disengage the enemy team.

I've been a GP main for a while now and I love playing him. So far the best way to play him is to build damage early and then get 2 or more tank items. Your ultimate will help bot get kills and you will just rack up the assists as you just simply farm top. This extra gold is enough to help you win your own lane unless you're against some stupid counter like Pantheon or Fiora.

As I've said in a lot of Gangplank threads, when the rework comes live you can expect for all of Gangplank's versatility to vanish much like Sion's did.

Sion is still an amazing tank, one of the best in my opinion, but the rework killed AD Sion and AP Sion.

This is what is going to happen to Gangplank. Riot will choose his role and buildpath by giving him certain stat scaling on his abilities and he will only excel at that one role whether it is a tank, or a melee ad carry.

I'm pretty sure his E will get scrapped, his passive changed, and his W will probably get changed a bit (maybe a passive added to it). I am fairly certain his ult will stay as a global ult but with some changes to it.

I'm no Gangplank main but I don't think he's really UP. He's a melee carry that, like most MADC's, scale real well into lategame to deal good damage.

Especially if you build crit and chunk people with 1000 damage Q's every 4 seconds or so.

less mana cost on q for a better laning and you will hate him hard

He's in line for an actual rework already, not just a buff. They buffed his ult (changed from random spots of damage to damage throughout the entire area) to help until then.

Gangplank needs a full, Sion-level kit rework. His abilities contradict each other. Remove Scurvy and Raise Morale promote attacking in melee with his passive, but his Q promotes sitting at range and poking with unmissable poke. His ult is fine, but like Pantheon or Shen, he rest of his kit needs to be able to function without it.

You do realize that, when played properly, Gangplank is the most OP champ in the game right? His Q crits, his oranges both heal + remove all CC, he has attack speed and movement speed boost, he can global ult slow or gg anyone instantly.

Try playing him as a support with item 3097. He can support the entire enemy team with his ult and the buffs he can impart to his ADC can prove extremely useful.
