Not Sure About Ranked Placing

Hey i just started playing ranked recently and did fairly well in the 10 placement games and got placed in Silver 2. I was actually quite surprised i got placed that high since I haven't had the game for that long so assumed I'd be somewhere in bronze. Anyways after playing several games it seems like I'm getting outclassed every game. Almost all the games I lost lane and was behind the rest of my team. Eventually got demoted to silver 3 and only won one of my games in there. Just wondering about advice and thoughts i guess. I play as my champ pool. Anyways thoughts? Advice?

Hecarim is the only champion in your pool that I have a lot of experience with but there's probably a lot of things that need improvement in regard to general mechanics that can be applied to any champion.

I placed Bronze 1 (after finishing gold last season - that hurt) and am currently Platinum 5 this season.
