The new Morde

Oh, Mordekaiser. How much you've grown in a single patch.

It seems there's a bit of controversy surrounding the "New Mordekaiser." Some say he became nerfed into nonexistence, others say he's become a godly Anticarry.

What do you guys think? How does the "new mordekaiser" fit?

(I, personally, love the new morde as the anticarry role. I would also say he'd work well with another melee tanky support e.g., Braum Nautilus Blitzcrank)

I wanna see what you people think with reasons behind it.

Edit: Thanks, guys, I'm really appreciative of all the imput so far.

I don't like how he HAS to go duo lane now.

not a big fan of this either. I love how he can fill the role he can do now, but I can't bring him up top effectively anymore.

That's the downside of all this.

Personally I'd like to see a less powerful version of his W that I can cast on myself or minions. I've lost a lot of fights, simply because I don't have one of my three basic abilities.

yeah, that's actually a bit of a bummer.

i don't think he's grown at all -- in fact it's the opposite, i think he's become as binary as riot liked to claim he was before

he was already an anticarry, this hasn't changed, except now he's confined to being in melee range vs league of mobility

bad rework imo

This new morde is trash compared to previous morde. I have mained him for 4 years and done exceedingly well with him in ranked. This new rework has completely taken my favorite champ and turned him to trash. Sure his q can do quite a bit of damage but hes no longer the deciding factor. His decipher maces (E) is completely weak and lacks range. His (W) only works on other champions that are near by. Keeping his shield up is the most difficult thing now. I just do not get why they would do this to him... I hate it, However I will find a way to make him work but I would like for him to go back to being that mid lane harasser that has the ability to deal with cc. Against an amumu now hes just dead when it comes to cc. Bad rework and has made me extremely distraught.

dang

So it's basically like, for you, this entire change just threw him and his kit into irrecoverable shambles?

I feel your pain. If you're curious why or looking for actual proof with numbers, I've laid it out there.

according to champion GG, hes abyssal in solo lanes. 43-46% win rate.

while as adc bot lane tole hes 56% god tier level.

so hes both.

rush item 3116 before anything else this is your infinity edge.

do that and get a champ with decent cc/damage or cc/initiate and you will roll over that botlane without problem.

build the new items as they are OP ASF starting items

item 3302 item 2003 X3 and trinket sell relic's later item 3116 RUSH THIS its your infinity item 3009 item 3742 item 3065 item 3053 item 3748 then these i usually finish boots after rylai honorably mention for item 3158 this is nice if you want to spam even more third item to finish is usually deadmans as it gives you much needed mobility

now you are a walking tank of despair i made another thread about morde but

TL:DR i would not be surprised if they cut his damage in near half next patch his damage is simply insane.

woah, that build looks like it'd kill people hard

Most of my games so far (I've been playing a lot of Morde myself) I've gone something like this (I'm usually not incredibly tanky and more of a pure cheese burst):

item 3302 item 2003 x3 like you said Rush item 3146 item 3009item 3020 or item 3158; item 3116 or item 3089 or item 3100 (pick two) ; item 3065; item 3742

I might try your build, it looks like Morde's able to keep his own without extra spell vamp thanks to his new W reactivate. The only problem I've had with him is being too slow (which swifties and DMP, as well as lich in my build, help with that).

Thanks for that build.

So it has taken a little getting used to but i have found a way to keep him aggressive and stable for now. Essentially when you are duo laning with morde make sure you get his w first, the passive is amazing. The cool thing is that if you build him into a tanky ap with a rylais and a hextech gunblade he balance out fairly well with a boots of ionia. I go for the rylais first out the get go and then the rest falls into place. I have been using him more as a support but as soon as you hit about level 9 it starts to be more in your favor.

It is not the same as he was in terms of being a lone badass but the whole having life gain by himself becomes pretty broken. I have found that he can lane ( of course with another champ) for long periods of time due to his w. Try this out and let me know what works for you guys.

I like the Idea but mord does it far too well, he needs to be toned down along with the other "juggernauts" in this patch. It's a bad time to play ADC right now. too many bruiser's with far too much faceroll damage.
