League is disgusting to play now, even when all I'm trying to do is have fun I get stressed out...

iiCOMAii··140 votes·23,034 views

Losing is such a mind-numbing process, especially when the enemy is practically nothing but the highest tier champs and you get stuck with "people" that don't even know how to press their buttons correctly let alone understand what a hopeless game looks like.

And winning is just a chore because most of the time you end up stomping the enemy team so hard it's basically just a shooting gallery with 10 second reloads as you wait for your "combo" to refresh, or you end up with that one player on your team that has no idea what they're doing so things just drag on and on because it's always a 4v5 and none of your good players has an opportunity to catch someone out.

It's so bad that I don't ever have a chance to enjoy myself because most of the time the enemy are either so fed that they just shrug off and ignore everything I can desperately spam out before they kill me in 2 hits or they're so far behind that we just spend the entirety of 20 minutes slowly whittling down their base because nobody wants to damage their precious KDA with a sacrifice to finally put an end to the fiesta.

This is why most people who play league with real life or mental issues or illnesses snap so hard and get themselves banned. The game is NOT fun unless you're playing with real life friends who you trust and have a strong bond with. Anything else is klingon pain sticks. Aka torture. The very few exceptions are people who greatly enjoy using a certain champion and get pleasure from it (like landing double damage Q's with karthus or somethiing), and who just /fullmute all every game and treat your teammates like advanced AI bots.

That stems some of the silliness from mentally ill teammates but not from the stomp syndrome.

It's best to find something to play that you actually enjoy. There are a LOT Of games out there now. Many trash, some excellent, most "standard fare.".

I play the game for the love of it. It’s complex and rich and difficult, and there’s nothing else like it. Sure, I have my favorite champs, but I play pretty much only Ranked Solo/Duo, and almost always by myself.

I lead my teammates and just mute the toxic players. They want to run your fun and your game, so the best comeback is not to let them. Win your lane, ping objectives, and call plays like you would with a decent player in their place. Then they have to choose between obviously trolling and losing, and just doing the obvious thing to win.

The hard part is that it really is upsetting to even have to deal with them. I want to trust my teammates and have a happy atmosphere, whether we win or lose. No passive aggression, flaming, or rage-fueled misplays. It’s honestly the only part of League that I don’t like. The rest is amazing.

That's not true at all. I have fun playing the game solo. Ofc sometimes there are trolls but most games are ok or even great. atm i am in Plat 3/2 and people there are totally fine most of the time. And they were fine in lower Elos too.

If you guys have toxic people in ALL of your games maybe you should think about WHY. Maybe you trigger this behavior with provocative chat or plays?

Playing since 4 seasons, mostly solo, can't relate.

You know i snapped like 2 times and just got a 14 day ban from that. And the reasons listed are exactly that. When i won, i was not having fun because it meant stomping the already beaten to dirt enemies and when i lost, it was so frustrating because i worked so hard to climb up the ladder only to get knocked down with 3 lost games in a row, undoing it all as the children yell at me and belittle my efforts to try and get out of this toxic elo. Nope, i'm staying here for quite a while it seems.

Oh and by "snapping" i just used the controversial, harshest language i could think of and called someone a "kid". And collectively "idiots" later.

I'm surprised they didn't perma-ban me. I bet that kid is mentally scarred or something.

PS: I know it's not acceptable but that kind of language shouldn't net a 2 week ban from 2 damn games. Honorable behaviour is not rewarded in any way at all (fuck those capsules, they're so rare and worthless in comparison to getting your account banned). League is basically a torture chamber for competitive players who aren't in the Apex tiers.

From now on, since i don't want to get perma-banned on my main account i am muting EVERYONE in the game, excluding pings unless i detect spamming for no reason. That also means i won't type anything because chat is completely useless in this game it seems as people in Platinum have such inflated egos that they have to make up for it by never taking any advice, never answering for anything and always thinking they're better than "the rest".

This has gone on for long enough and i am done taking this shit from people whose parents shouldn't have had a kid if they didn't know how to raise one. Until i attain Honor 5, i am not turning chat on ever again. Fuck that. There are online chatrooms and this isn't one of them.

Sorry you had to go through this. One reason I keep "rampaging" on mental illnesses is because I suffer from them myself.

And I don't think people here know, or realize, that one of the MOST HANDSOME men on the planet suffered from mental illness before. And he's married to one of the most beautiful women currently alive.

You know who he is.

Prince Harry. He almost lost control after Diana was......"murdered." Call it what you want. But two young kids should never have to lose their mother that way.

The British Air Force Army veteran who also risked his life to fight Islamic extremists piloting choppers in Afghanistan.

Yes, being unable to control your IS a mental illness. No one wants to admit it but it is. The difference is, if you want to either get help to improve, treatment, OR...drumroll please--- to exclude yourself from games which FOSTER and make illnesses worse. Like League of Legends.

There are MANY frustrating games out there which do nothing but cause people who are less than perfect to tilt off the planet. Like....

Dark Souls.

It was one thing when EVERY Game in existence was this difficult. And the hardest thing you could ever play was Super Ghouls and Ghosts on the SNES. And other TRULY hard games. But when games are now noobified to make them "here, hold your hand" and then people think having a death system like in DS makes the game "hard", well, they clearly haven't been gaming for very long. Lol....

tl;dr: use /fullmute all every game. And mute enemy emotes on the options. fullmute all mutes EVERYONE and all pings.

Try it.

Too bad there isn't a way to unbind your enter key (and leave it unbound without ability to rebind it until you go back to the main client), although i can see some issues with this happening (like if somehow the text parser appeared but you couldn't press Enter to get rid of it....).

Yes league can be fun. For people with VERY thick skins, people who are hopelessly addicted to Mobas, people abusing FOTM overpowered champions to wrack up triple kills and get 15-20 kills a game and ride hide on that, or people who play with their friends. Congratulations if that's you. You are in the minority.

/fullmute all /fullmute all Do not type anything, EVER, except gl hf and gg wp.

Nothing more. And don't run it down.

You'll never get punished again.

rtbf2256182412 votes

Well it's not that i can't control myself it's that i didn't expect to get a full blown 14-day ban for calling someone a kid...or a bunch of them idiots (once). I bet they collectively reported me cuz they were so frustrated at being put in place. It's just so stupid how delusional some people are when they are pointing out mistakes that THEY are making. Like standing around and getting killed while flaming. Whose the guy "inting" again?

Regardless, i'll note the emote part. It makes no sense for me to have them enabled on the enemy team so thanks for the heads up.

And..it's not that League is hard, i outclass Challenger players (according to stats) on Kayn yet i am stuck in Platinum V. Why? It's the people on my team (haha..classic season 4 complaint huh? A real meme) that make it impossible to get out. The gains are lower than losses and your efforts are futile unless you are a hyper-carry type of player. I am not. I don't rack up quadras and pentas every game, i'm just trying to win AS A TEAM not as a one-man-army because i know in the current meta, that isn't really possible anymore.

Regardless, it's more about getting rid of the useless distractions in the game and starting to try and enjoy it for what it is, not for what the people on my team are because until i end up in a different elo, i'll just assume every one of my teammates is a glorified Bot without intuition, without creative thought and without a sense of opportunity.

I feel you. They completely turned this game to shit this season.

There is barely any strategy or skill expression in fights anymore. Just an overbearing amount of damage. You get seen/hit first, you die. You get outnumbered? You die. Strategic teamfights left for three seconds of button mashing. The calm aspect I absolutely loved about this game completely vanished.

I'm out if pre-season doesn't feel A LOT better. I will leave after six years and I loved this game with all my heart for five of these years, but season 8 is simply unbearable. It is frustrating Riot refused to listen for a whole year now.

Tyto Mors1 votes

i think thats why people are more aggressive this season. game no longer rewards you for being calm and thinking strategically, only time i see that is when watching high ranking play(like diamond 1 and above). but even then people get banned so much in that elo.

A friend of mine said this is mainly because a lot of people left this season as well. I remember last season that Ranked was almost a safe haven. Now this season there's always someone either flaming you or feeding. It's crazy as hell.

Im searching for new game to go for. this game is no longer the game i knew years ago. it no longer has soul and who balance it have no idea what they are doing.

even many times when im not enjoying the game i chat with the enemy instead and they as well reply knowing the game is boring mess and clown fest when it comes into team fight.

without many of the good community in this game i would have cut myself from this game entirely for now

See, at this point, I feel pretty safe in automatically assuming that whoever claims "winning is not fun" is just a big fat liar. Winning, by human nature, feels really fun, and those who actually win don't go to the boards to complain about winning.

KnifeCat22 votes

It’s not fun, because games are so one sided, it’s hard to lose once ahead. Towers being paper thin, and baron/herald basically auto win games. You barely have to do anything anymore to win. The game just holds your hand and wins for you. Not to mention skill expression has gotten much lower, you don’t need to outplay your opponents outside of the first 5 min. You get ahead, and you get so much dmg, that you just go around mindlessly one shotting

How is that fun? Sure maybe if you hadn’t experienced old league. When it was more like a strategic chess game rather than a fighting game where pressing your buttons first to burst = win a fight.

xxxDogmanxxx10 votes

I've been playing this game on and off since before Season 1 when this game was still a shitty DotA 1 clone. When champions were still displayed with their character models in black rectangles instead of with splash art. When AD scalings literally didn't exist yet and every ability scaled of AP.

"...games are so one sided, it’s hard to lose once ahead. Towers being paper thin, and baron/herald basically auto win games."

Getting ahead early and getting a major objective like Baron / Herald is SUPPOSED to win you the game. Otherwise, why would anybody risk going for the objective in the first place?

"You barely have to do anything anymore to win. The game just holds your hand and wins for you."

Bullshit. If the game makes winning is so goddamn easy, why do so many people lose and rage about it on the boards? Oh that's right, because by the very nature of any competitive game, EVERYBODY is afforded a 50% chance of winning or losing and it's up to the player to play well enough to tip it in their favor.

"Not to mention skill expression has gotten much lower, you don’t need to outplay your opponents outside of the first 5 min. You get ahead, and you get so much dmg, that you just go around mindlessly one shotting."

You really must not have played in the early seasons then. Xin Zhao used to be able to walk up with half hp and proceed to kill your entire full HP team, Soraka spammed Starfall and took away your entire hp bar in less than five seconds at level 1 in lane, Annie could literally delete three of you in an instant and burn down the other two as they tried to run. Twisted Fate could assassinate you at 30 seconds into the game at level 1 with just his E, etc.

Indeed. Or how many premades the enemy has. Real situations: I win mid against Teemo, but Teemo has a good jungler that basically pwn me a lot. I do not have premades, but shitnoobs.

Or that Yi. Send him 0/2/0 early because he was terrible. Suddenly, he gets a lucky kill. Then a double kill. And then 2-shots people after further 18 minutes. He sucked, he was healing for 0.5 seconds, he alphastriked in ONE minion and such nonsense - but he played an overbuffed character. Feels so ridiculous.

Only IF (and that's a big IF) there is SOME CHALLENGE!

Almost every 13+ year old can beat the crap out of most 5 year olds at any game. But where's the fun in that if there's no challenge? That's what it feels like winning most LoL games this days. Like winning vs teams that are severely handicapped. Might be slightly better than being part of the bullied team - since you're not the one getting angry for filling the role of the victim - this time around - but it's still a really BORING WIN (same feeling a boxer would have from beating a handicapped person). Nothing to be proud of (unless you have really low self esteem).

It probably will exist past 2020, but only because it was so popular at peak that could afford to bleed millions of players every month, and still exist for years. Based on the what we've seen of their plans for preseason, they are trying to fix just enough to keep some people around, but not enough to make the game fun for those of use that don't enjoy the high damage snowball clownfiesta, AKA admit the vastly different direction they took the game this season was a big fuck you to everyone who made the game what it is today.

The way I see it, the current problem league is facing right now is the ridiculous abundance of early damage afforded by keystone runes leading to severely one-sided mid and (god forbid) late games. I'm not saying that there weren't some silly builds with the old rune system. The new runes are undoubtedly better in concept and execution, but in their current state, some of the keystones are so superior to all other options that they have really centralized the game.

Specifically, Electrocute has allowed assassins to stack on a staggering amount of scaling adaptive damage. Unlike arcane comet which can still be dodged, this damage is instantaneous, allowing certain champs who's kits naturally allow them to pull off the 3 hits needed LeeSin Fizz Khazix Pantheon Zed Akali Kassadin With 140 champions in the game and more to come, there will always be champs who drift into higher viability, but when all of those champions fill the same role in the same way, the game becomes dull with matches coming down to who was able to get their 3 hits within half a second.

T Captain T4 votes

Early game damage is definitely a problem. You literally have no room for mistakes or else you're deleted in seconds. The game now is literally about who can get their damage off fastest before being the first to get deleted.

MaskedMadness5 votes

Riots problem is that they have the what i like to call "popular champions". ahri, darius, lux garen zed you get the idea. so what they do is they buff what is "popular" cough cough irelia even though she didnt need a buff same as lucian. you can even see it biased in their videos and community videos and the tutorial for new players. darius ahri yi mf and the others . lucian gets a skin. buff him so people buy the skin. rengar gets a revert. give him a skin(i main rengar). which is why the statement that the game is decided in pick phase because the team with the op team wins 90% of the time while you try to play off meta actually fun champions like corki or anyone who isnt pop. Another one of leagues problems is that they try to give players freedom in which you can play anyone any role any lane any build. it is in their ticket page that they will not punish people for 'bad games' or 'trying new builds or roles' so that when your soraka mid feeds she doesnt get punished whatsoever. the problem with them letting people do whatever they want creates imbalance because there is no CONTROL. GAREN IS A TANK. GAREN ALMOST ALWAYS TAKES IGNITE DUSKBLADE STORM RAZOR AND KILLS YOUR ENTIRE TEAM BECAUSE HE IS STILL TANKY DESPITE ONE TANK ITEM.

darius is a tank that gets up 4K health with moderate defenses. darius also gets the base AD of around 6 when he maxes his stats... close to or more then an assassin... darius makes you bleed and his E at max gives him 35% ARMOR PEN. so we have a 'Tank' that heals from Q. Slows with W and E. GAINS SHREDDING STATS THAT BELONG TO ASSASSINS. GAINS DAMAGE FOR HITTING YOU. and has an execution. and thats not even bring up the true damage he gets from conq which is also imbalanced.

AP items have to high stats that people who are mostly Full AD take AP simply because it scales higher. such as AP rengar one shotting entire teams when it was still good including tanks.

Riot needs to control stats and not give us the ability to be a darius who cant die but does the damage of a 50/0/1000 zed.

simply put. you dont see actual fun champions because of the clearly easier more op choices. why play fun ryze when you can be leblanc and w and one shot someone and go back and never take damage.

why play skarner and have fun dragging victims under tower when you can just play volibear and never die because of passive but still do loads of damage

why play rengar when you can be zed and do a un-avoidable combo and escape with 75% health then go right back in

why play corki when you can play MF and 100 to 0 someone with a Q auto

you can see what im getting at im just as pissed as you are. i dont know if RIot cares or if they even listen. i dont even think they will learn that they have to CONTROL stats so we dont have garens running around tanking 5v1 and getting a penta simply because he has base tank stats ignoring his scaling abilities.

despite the hundreds of things they have to balance i think they just slack. im sure balancing is pretty easy especially when you construct the game.

Regardless, they spend so much MORE time on skins for champs who dont need them and waste time on small patches that give some champions slight buffs that change nothing or make them OP.

I've played on and off LoL for many years since season 3. I can tell you the community has become much worst becoming more about allowing kids to play the game rather then supporting the community overall. It's all about them new players and how much attention they can garnish while trying to keep everyone in a safe space. I've almost never had a ban on chat and in the last two months of playing I've had two. If you don't want to deal with people, and most don't at this point, just use the mute all feature. It is the only reasonable way to play anymore because riot has given up on trying to handle the infinite amount of new players and trolls that get banned. Want to FF at 15 mins in norms because your bot lane went fiddlesticks and mundo. Well too bad because top and mid don't agree even though you are 10 kills behind and every lane has lost a tower already. Want to leave well guess what you will be punished with longer wait times. Want to discuss it with people like an adult well too bad because then you actually have to talk with someone and if they disagree with everything you point out you will be reported and temporary chat banned for flaming. This happens so often I don't even bother climbing rank or playing norms seriously.

There is nothing stopping me from playing the game, but I will make it my life mission to make as many people quit the game within the rules because anything is better then the community riot created with these policy's. Not like they were handed a good community to begin with, but I'd rather someone tell me what I'm doing wrong happen then someone just say I'm inting or I suck and just scream REEEE reported!

People don't even know what those things mean and that just might be from eating detergent packs or a lack of knowledge in general. Everyone acts like an entitled pro and no one admits mistakes. Don't point out their mistakes because riot can't handle facts and those facts might hurt their feelings. It's one big old safe space for childern to play in and no one can seem to bridge the gap because it might hurt a little.

It's one big old safe space for childern to play in and no one can seem to bridge the gap because it might hurt a little.

This process you are going through is called: Self fulfilling Prophecy, where when you believe that you will do bad, you will eventually do bad because you don't put effort into it at all anymore. You saying that you don't take ranked or norms seriously will most likely affect others too, which ruins the game for most people who are somewhat serious or even very serious about the game to tilt. Being positive is contagious and can spread throughout your teammates increasing the chance of you guys working together which makes the game a fun experience.

it's probably due to the fact that games are shorter or who in the fucking team fed or is nonexistent. life was much better during season 4 or 5

I think you touched on a really important thing when you claimed about protecting KDAs in lost matches. I recently caught myself doing that as well. Apart from wanting to climb, I realized that if I can't, for whatever reason, I might as well have a good KDA, cs/min etc to show for my efforts.

I can lose games for many reasons. I played badly in a game, I got disconnected/high ping, my team was just stupid most of the time etc. I can't control my lost games most of the time, but what I can't control is having a good KDA to show for it in my op.gg.

Honestly, I'd rather be Plat 5 with a 4 KDA on Viktor, rather than being Plat 3 with 2.

The problem is that your trying to play a MOBA and relax/chill. You can't. The genre has always been extremely competitive and asks for you to keep trying your best.

If you want to relax i suggest playing a single player rpg.

BOLLOCKS, top used to be a chill lane. now all these highly mobile 1 clickers allow no1 to chill and if you dont pick a mobile 1 clicker to compete with the enemy you just lose.

there are very few champs that you can chill with now that stand a chance at winning
