is the nerf really going to affect her all that much?

well .. it lowers her early clear speed ... resulting in she's getting more damage and won't be able to gank that often ... theoretically.

You have to remember Shyvana is getting more than just direct nerfs. Nerfs to devourer and titanic hydra are going to hurt her hard too, probably harder than her direct nerfs.

your reference to devourer nerf .. you are refering to the stack decrease?

about titanic "nerf" ... yes you are loosing some damage right .. but it is intended for juggernaut builds .... if you want to deal heavy damage with a few hits .. you'll need to build more glass cannon ... thats the intended change.

The majority of shyvana's damage comes from on-hit effects (devourer, wit's end, titanic, botrk, her E %hp dmg, etc) because of how her Q works. Nerfing her devourer stacks decrease her snowball potential while the titanic hydra takes away even more clear speed, burst damage, and power spikes. To add to her nerfs, her Q damage was nerfed (% max ad, meaning that her 40% ad nerf is more than just a flat 40ad taken away). Her clear speeds were again slowed, while taking away more burst and snowball potential.

IMO it's just too much at once. I feel like she's being overly-nerfed and there is no way to gauge just how bad she'll be until after it's release. By then, Shyvana players will just have to wait until they decide to undo a nerf which will be a while. I'd rather see how she is after the devourer/titanic nerfs and judge whether she needs more nerfs after evaluating the first set.

well .. then maybe it was never inteded she is played that way?

did you read the comment about the nerf? http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/game-updates/patch/patch-66-notes#patch-champions

"Lowering her damage in the early stages, especially when dueling champions, should see a stunt in that growth from ‘always on’ to ‘sometimes on’ as her opponents seek to close the gaps in her flame horizon"

That is exactly what they wanted and btw it is a 40% damage reduction from 180-->140 thats a damage reduction of about 23% in total ..

For the first part: I understand their mission to control her early game and snowball potential, but I feel like they are overdoing it considering the nerf of one of her her powerspike items (item 3748). I'd rather see just how much the titanic + devourer changes affect her before getting rid of 40% of her early game damage on her Q.

As for her Q: 180/185/190/195/200% total attack damage ⇒140/155/170/185/200% total attack damage

Lv. 1 = 40% total ad difference (so about 35 less dmg per Q which is a pretty decent amount for first jungle clears) Lv. 2 = 25% (Depending on build/how you level your abilites that's about a 30-50 total damage lost from each q) Lv. 3 = 20% loss (while the reduction is decreasing, you have to remember while her early game was nerfed this mid game nerf may be unnecessary)

I'm worried about how much her early was nerfed. We'll see if she is struggling when the nerf becomes live, but I just feel like they are overdoing it

well .. item 3748 is.. after all .. a juggernaut item .. not ment to deal tons of damage in a short time ... if you want the damage .. switch titanic for item 3074 ...you got even more damage .. but you pay with tankyness ... thats the usual tradeoff ... "tankiness for damage" .. that is what they also did to yi and fiora

The damage stats on Titanic aren't useful for Shyv, it's really just for the tank/auto reset that it provides. Shyvana is a fighter, she is going to build ad tank items whether you like it or not and so to justify nerfing Titanic because Shyvana shouldn't be using it makes no sense. The only thing Ravenous is good for is it's lifesteal, which is why you build Botrk on Shyvana as it also provides the needed CC to stick to targets. Ravenous is actually quite terrible on Shyvana

Anraton1 votes

I never said shivanna isn't ment to build item 3748

The intention was to say ... titanic is a juggernaut item ... jugernauts deal damage over time, not burst damage ... if you want to finish of your enemy with a few big htis ... titantic is not your item

Slythion1 votes

Titanic is a core item for Shyvana as it provides the auto reset and tank stats needed for fighters as well as juggernauts. Those two champion classes use verrryyy similar items, and so to classify titanic as only for juggernauts isn't true

Anraton1 votes

i only said ... juggernauts and items attatched to them deal consistent damage, not burst damge .. everyone is comlaining about the burst damage getting reduced ...

Slythion1 votes

It's ad is being reduced...the only burst that titanic has is it's auto-attack reset. I haven't seen anyone complain about it being bursty? Unless the champs auto's do a lot of dmg (fighters) then it really isn't a burst item as itself...

Devourer isn't getting nerfed this patch, look at the patch notes. It is a sadness what's happening to Shyvana as far as Titanic Hydra is concerned, that was a huge power spike for her.

Slythion1 votes

Devourer stacks where altered previously, added to the titanic nerfs for this patch. I would say leave it at that and see how well Shyvana is doing to gauge whether she needs the direct nerfs or not.

For FOTM yes.

For Shyvana mains, no.

Its pretty easy to see who's riding freelo abuse and who actually utilizes Shyvana as one of their main champions. Shyv mains run Exhaust over flash. Shyv mains get BORK over Titanic.

Good majority of the dedicated Shyvana mains have always ran BORK over Hydra/Titanic. Better Synergy, duelling, and sticking power. So no impact there. Hydra was seen as just being a cheese item on Shyvana and Titanic is REALLY not as strong on Shyvana as people make it out to be. Her power and strength came from two sources:

a. She clears so fast that she comes out levels and gold ahead of everyone. b. Her damage is mixed, that once she gets ahead in level and gold, its impossible to itemize against her. Good base physical damage, and percentile magic health damage, a combination like that, when it gets ahead, is terrifying.

That's not to say Titanic doesn't work on Shyvana, it does work, quite well actually, but tangible benefits of Titanic v.s. BORK is not very high, BORK is still a better choice since it covers her weakness of being kited easily. She gets on top of her target, shreds their health fast enough to proc Stormraider's Surge, and its game over, whoever she's targeted is not getting away. Titanic makes it a little more difficult to get to her target, but the trade-off is she melts them faster. Most of those that have played Shyvana for awhile would value the stickiness over the excessive damage.

People love to talk about how Titanic increased clear speeds, but Shyvana's burnout already makes clearing among the fastest of any champion, there's no noticeable impact of adding Titanic's cleave to clear speed, it may have made clear speed like .2 seconds shorter, but that's it. She had the fastest clear time, barring maybe Nidalee, before the introduction of Titanic, she'll still maintain the title of fastest clear times. Again, no noticeable impact there.

Shyvana mains always value Q for the AA reset, not for its damage, so again, no major or noticeable impact there. Sure, lower damage, but the based damage from Q was mere secondary to the AA reset function.

All in all, the Shyvana mains actually love this nerf, get the FOTM bandwagon riders off their champion without impacting them badly. and they keep their burnout bonus minion damage.

Don't believe me? http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/EAEtxJpe-soon-shyvana-soon

She still very strong, and in a few weeks, people will realize that again and the circle of QQ will begin again.

Just did a game post-patch to test out. Went 7-0-4 and starved the shit out of their Udyr, four of my kills came in 2v1 situations. It was quite hilarious actually, once at the 9 minute mark, then again at the 19 minute mark.

The devourer nerf was not released live, but even if it was, it would have been a justified nerf. Sated should be happening at about the 20 minute mark, you can consistently get Sated without even being fed or snowballing at the 16-17 minute mark.

<--Shyvana is second most played champion behind Nami since I'm a support main.

So many players crying about the Q nerf don't realise that shyvana's early game jgl clear comes from the W and E magic on-hit dmg rather than Q itself! The only thing Q nerf is gonna affect is prob getting a potential early enemy kill but it doesn't affect her actual early jgl clear at all.
