Original? Yes, he does have a unique kit. Is it good/healthy for the game? No, invisible traps, difficult-to-punish split pushing, click blinds, and dominating vision is not a healthy combination.
Not interacting with the enemy team or your team very much is NOT healthy for the game. As I mentioned, his best play style is just split pushing and his whole kit lets him do that retardedly well. He has terrible team fight potential in that other than being a free blind on the adc, basically does next to nothing: His range is very small (not small enough for click blinds though), and any attempts at damage will get him shoved aside/killed by a tank.
He also just wins the vision war by virtue of existing. Want to clear the shrooms? You have to buy red trinket to do so, won't clear all the shrooms/wards, and the other team has no such penalty, giving them an unfair advantage. Just leave them be? Get hit by pseudo-random shrooms of very limited counterplay, enemy team still has a huge lead (not to mention they can hit really hard.) Champions with vision in their kit should be giving an edge to their team, not completely dominate the vision war (Kalista, Ashe, and Quinn have pretty healthy examples of vision on their kit. Teemo and a lesser extent shaco, do not.)
