Why doesn't Riot have a system in place that allows you to pick your preferred position (mid, adc, jng, support, top) before you pick your champions?

The lack of this leads to some serious BS regarding people who instanlock and/or refuse to acknowledge that someone else called the position first in the furious five seconds when everyone calls their positions.

It's not like it could make anything worse.

What do you mean by extra long?

Cause I'd be willing to wait a couple of minutes if it cut out the sort of crap that happens if you're not playing with a team.

and if they really can't find someone who wants to play [x] position then maybe they need to rethink that particular position. I mean no one wants to play a position that isn't at least enjoyable in its execution. Even if you lose the game.

edit: you should be able to pick more than one position, btw. If you're good with playing like, support, mid, top, but not so keen on adc or jungling you should be able to check a few boxes so you're open to more than just one position.

They already have this system. It's called draft pick. You choose your two preferred roles before you queue. Most of the time you will get a role you picked, however if you're picking the most popular roles, you can still get 'auto-filled' and end up in a position you didn't pick. If you do get auto-filled, you won't be again in your next couple games.
