she hasnt been buffed or changed in a long time. the only reason she's doing so well right now is because every single one of her enchanter counters got nerfed into the ground. so stupid. people act like a TRUE support(not a fucking burst mage) in botlane who can keep her adc/team alive is op. its ridiculous. it's like everyone's of the mentality "OH WE CAN'T JUST FACEROLL KEYBOARDS TO GET KILLS WHEN SHE'S THERE, MUST BE OP.
This always amazes me. I read way too often here in the boards people claiming that supports like Lulu, Janna, Nami and so on can't be OP because they deal no damage.
There are many types of strengths. If a champion is extremely effective at keeping their team mates alive, then this champion will be strong and can be overpowered. Being overpowered is not tied to dealing damage.
And Nami didn't get buffed directly, but people always forget that a change in the environment can indirectly buff a champion. The nerf to the support starter items, which made them cost 50 more gold and therefore every support starts with 1 health pot less, was less of a nerf for Nami than for everyone else. In comparison, she became stronger, since she is a healing champion with a strong laning phase. It was an indirect buff for her and made her go over the edge.
Basically they're going to nerf nami, then pre-season changes will hit, change the meta, and suddenly she'll be weak again because she was never actually overpowered to begin with, and they'll either have to revert the nerf or leave her irrelevant.
That's true, but boards are boards, they are dumb sheeps.
Nami is getting a slap on the wrist lol, not a nerf; considering she has had both a 10-11% play rate (8th most played champion in the game) and over 50% winrate for the past, I don't know, all of season 8 so far, I don't mind opening up some room for some other supps.
Half the reason so many supports are just burst mages again is realistically cause ardent got gut due to people over exaggerating.
