Is Riot making visual upgrades for some of it's champions to match the new Summoner's Rift?

I saw the Champion teaser's and I didn't fully understand it. Are they teasers for a few champs to be visually upgraded for the new Summoner's Rift? Or are they merely just new portraits? Thanks for the help!

I believe they are planning on all the champion visual updates to work better with the new Summoners Rift. If you look at the more recent model changes, they all seem to fit into the new map better. if you haven't seen it, this article here, shows all the future and past visual and gameplay upgrades.

The teasers were merely art for champions that Riot had created and that may or may not have been widely bumped/posted, therefore not everyone may have seen them. Riot was looking to bring them back into the limelight.
