HELP PLS Important Ranked Question

Soo.. just a question about ranked queues:

You know how if you rank for a season, your rank will be lower the next season? (e.x. Gold in Season 3 >> Silver in Season 4) If you don't play ranked for an entire season, does this completely reset? (does it work just like when you play ranked for the first time and you start out in silver)

I doubt it, but I could test it.... in three years time.... Just better to try to climb back.
