I'm scared to play ranked games?

I'm horrible at the game and people are toxic to bad players. I can't think of a completely horrible outcome other than somehow getting reported and banned but I just can't find the courage to play at all. I don't have a lvl 30 friend to duo queue with either so it's just almost annoying that nothing bad would come out of it but I just can't make myself play it.

any tips?

Super mute everyone as soon as the game starts. A lot of people are still brainwashed into thinking this game takes skill. It does not its graphical craps. Just play with everyone muted and treat them as bots.

Dont play ranked unless you're confident in your skills. If you start now you will just tank your MMR and when you start getting good enough to climb you will be stuck with a bunch of people that are hard to carry.

If you havnt placed in ranked before then just wait. I didnt play ranked till I had 500 wins in norms. The system takes your Norms MMR into concideration when placing you and Ive never been placed bronze. Thats my tip.

mute any1 that's telling you off. or just play and get reported only to have nothing bad happen... you cant get banned for being shit. not only that your probably better than you think.

Don't play ranked then. TBH, there are only 2 things that differ from Norms....possible rewards (which are crap at best for all the effort you have to put in), and possible personal satisfaction (ofc you have to win for that).

The play itself, the trolls, the afks, the toxicity is all the same (the last one might even be worse in ranked).

i kinda feel the same bc i also suck, however i derive a great pleasure from getting targeted by internet thugs. if i didnt i'd just mute all. it does make you play better if you use your pings correctly

Hey, would you like to play with me until you're confident to do so?

If you're "bad" then you'll be placed with other "bad" players who don't deserve to talk shit to you.

If people talk shit to you anyways, just mute them. Preemptively muting everyone is actually a fairly common tactic to help people focus on the game.

You aren't going to get better unless you play and look at your games to figure out how you can improve.

"Elo hell" is not a real thing below Diamond because at any elo below Diamond you can improve your own ability to the point where you can carry games from any position (albeit not necessarily every champion, many champions have kits that make them very passive and dependent on setting up good teamfights which means you have to flip a bunch of coins to see if you get good teammates or not).
