A List of Entirely Unpopular Opinions

  • Mordekaiser's rework did not end the world.

  • "Gangplank's 100% pick/ban rate in worlds is okay because barrels = skill, but Morde's means that he's toxic and has no counter play." There's a double standard there.

  • Jinx and Vayne are strong but not OP. Both for entirely different reasons.

  • Fizz, Yasuo, Lee Sin, and Riven are not fun to play as.

  • Fizz, Yasuo, Lee Sin, and Riven are not fun to play against, but are not broken/op. They all have clear weaknesses/counter play.

  • Nasus and Veigar's farming simulations heavily gate their early laning phase. This is a fair trade off.

  • An astounding amount of players don't understand what "melee range" means when talking about champions like Morde, Aatrox, and Garen.

  • Players are not owed anything from Riot.

  • Riot should probably keep the majority of the player base happy to prevent uprisings. This is a business model, not an entitlement to players.

  • I do not enjoy playing CertainTy's champions. They are not button smashing easy. Creative kits are good for League as a whole. Overloaded kits are not.

  • The balance team is responsible for balancing a champion. The designer is responsible for coming up with something more innovative than what was a new concept four champions ago, if they wish to use the excuse of creativity behind their designs.

  • Riot Repertoire is not a god. I almost hate him because of all the circlejerking from the boards and the huge amount of bias/hatred against other designers. Seeing someone act nice in the middle of that feels more artificial and disgusts me more than any injustice a champion designer ever did to the poor X Champion mains. I acknowledge that this opinion is not very logical.

  • Sona is not the only support that needs attention, and straight up buffs are not what she needs. Straight up buffing ANY AP utility support is probably not the answer. Nami is fine. Thresh is not an OP god. Janna is god tier.

  • Supports are not always right, are not always victims, ect. They do not need more attention. The role does not need any special treatment from Riot. A lot of support "mains" suck. A lot of these are female.

  • Every Soraka I have ever played with was toxic because they believed that picking a healer meant that they were carrying the team. Every Zyra thought they were the second mid laner, farm included.

  • Not all supports ward.

  • There may exist Bronze players with the mechanics of a Diamond. They also likely have the mind/game knowledge/reasoning skills of a potato.

  • There may exist Bronze players with the game knowledge of a Diamond. This is insanely more rare. Likely they have no fingers/mouse, never mind basic mechanics.

  • Quality > Quantity when discussing game balance. Platinum and above players play the game better than Bronze. I think the concepts of skill floors/skill ceilings are not used nearly as much as they should be. Still, ignoring the majority rule usually = uprising.

  • The boards think that they know how to balance champions but do they know how to come to a balance between two separate opinions?

  • Flipping out over a name/champion identity/champion kit is childish and needs to stop. Ultimately you are the consumer and you have the right to give your input regarding a product (the game) if you think that recent changes means you won't want to use the service. This is called feedback, and is meant to be used constructively in order to better the product as a whole for everyone. You are not paying for this game. This is a service that Riot has provided, and whether or not you choose to spend extra money for mostly cosmetic features was your decision. Getting personally offended over something that Riot has chosen to do with their own game just screams immature entitlement.

I think that Riot should never cater to every whim of the players on the boards. For the sake of the game as a whole, though, I think it's important that there is active, respectful feedback between the community and all the development teams to keep the game healthy and enjoyable to play. Rioters are humans too, and they deserve decent respect, so saying that they should quit/be fired/die for doing something that X amount of players disagree with is unacceptable. They're only human and are capable of losing the trust of the community with their decisions. Let that be enough.

After basic human decency, respect is something that should be earned. This goes for everyone.

Don't forget almost everything I post on G&B:

  • Lulu's solo laning is extremely oppressive to go against, even though she is just your typical designated lane bully that can be destroyed when camped.
  • Her Q should get a minion damage reduction, and that alone would still make her a viable pick as a solo laner.
  • Her supporting roles should be buffed, while solo laning potentials nerfed.
  • Supports are not supposed to have strong waveclear. This means, something is extremely fishy.. ahem Lulu.
  • Squishy supports are outclassed and needs to be looked at.
  • Veigar has clear and defined strengths and weaknesses, and that he's been able to do the same things ever since the beginning of time. He was "strong" only because pros picked him.
  • Riot actually doesn't know what supports build, and assumed that they WILL build AP just because they get +2k for not buying solely wards.
  • Utility scalings were made even though supports can barely afford defense for themselves. It is a mistake.
  • Even though the purpose of it was to "buff" supports so they are encouraged to stay botlane and not get outclassed by mages, the opposite happened. Mages replaced traditional supports (other than Janna) and one of them nearly became a solo laner permanently.
  • This lasted for almost 2 years now.
  • Lulu is the ONLY support that can go to both lanes without getting gutted, even though her supporting abilities are nerfed and solo lane untouched.
  • Tahm doesn't count because he was made AFTER the tank meta emergence.
  • Zilean doesn't count because he is not really a popular pick.

Unpopular opinions much? Or facts that people never heard of?
