Broken Ranked... Every game has iron and gold...

I'm not an amazing player obviously, but gold 4 last season, won 8/10 placement games with As and Ss all 8 wins, carried team HARD. Placed in bronze... Okay well dumb but w/e. Problem is now EVERY game I have 1-2 people in legit iron and even they think they belong there. And 1-2 people who were also gold last season and know how to play.

Now every game my team rages at the Irons (even I feel bad for them) and either we win in 15 or we lose in 15. Maybe Riot wants to learn from their coin flip BS mistakes for once and not make things worse than ever? Removed win streaks for going up faster in placements too... If I won 10/10 I might have been in bronze 1... Just not fun having half both teams feeling lost cause they are playing with so many people who don't belong in that rank.

This is ALMOST as mean to the more casual players as adding Aphelious was. Not quite as mean, but almost.

I think I read from Riot that 50% of players belong and stay forever in Iron/Bronze. If every season those from silver and gold re-enter their ranks and then get pissed at them for having 0 map awareness and perma-inting because they are still learning (or just want to play more casually), it is going to make them very sad. That is much worse than making higher level players mad, because sad players will leave for good and never want to learn and get better.

It's the start of season, rank is no longer accurate to skill until people actually get back to where they're supposed to be.

I mean, that's an option. Not a good one, but it's certainly an option. It's also not what I'm suggesting at all

The other solution is to accept that the ranks you are looking at are not accurate. The fact that they're gold or iron is completely fucking irrelevant right now, because the season barely started Friday. No ranks are accurate until they're through a significant number of games with a ~50% winrate.

Do you perchance work for riot...?

It shows how HORRIBLE Riots Match Making system is.

The only accounts that it should not know where you skill is are NEW accounts that SHOULD be placed in Iron 4

So, even assuming that latter part is correct (which is questionable, but whatever)...You do realize that ranks are soft reset at the start of the season, right?

How the McFuck would it be accurate when it's at the point of the year where it's inherently inaccurate?

So...what solution do you want to propose? Or, even easier: What specific thing needs to be changed? "Fix this general thing" is not a solution, nor is it anything that can be followed up on. It's a complaint that does fuck all.

The fact that they have iron and gold is irrelevant, because you're seeing people in various stages of completing their placements. Effectively, all the people you're seeing are unranked, and you'd just see "unranked" if this used the system used prior to season 9, even if it had the same matchmaking as right now.

As far as I'm aware, a single loss at gold or below right now will start you at Iron 1. That will likely jump a rank or more every win. And Riot wants you to start the season lower than before as a design choice (and one not likely to go away any time soon, given that it helps break up the cereal box (rank)4 players who are just barely holding onto their current rank and would never actually get that rank normally), so your first match won't put you at the rank for your MMR, and won't start you at last season's rank.

You can't think of provisional rank as actual rank, because it's designed to be inaccurate so that the rest of the system can actually work.

Now, if you saw Irons with golds in even 2-3 weeks from now, that would likely be more of a concern, and come late February/early March it would almost certainly be cause for concern, but right now rank isn't an accurate measure.

Do I get paid to come up with solutions for customer satisfaction? No. Does Riot? Yes.

E.g. I don't have to offer a solution, as long as I state my issues with well reasoned explanations and don't waste this boards time. I am not holding high hopes that Riot even reads this. Instead I am hoping that other players who have had the same issues will continue similar threads, and someone may come up with a great solution, and Riot may accidentally do it.

My personal solution would be to have win streaks in placements. Not perfect, but a start.

Feel free to defend yourself again, but please don't waste key strokes defending Riot if you aren't going to say anything other than that I am complaining. BECAUSE I know I am :). I'm not raging at my own losses, I am complaining that this is semi tortuous to those who actually belong in Iron or Bronze. They are the ones being verbally harassed as players try to get back to Silver and Gold (after being forced to drop 2 whole ranks).

RITO wants us to grind and even for getting back to the rank before season started we got to grind. Also add some players who play ranked for the mission to the coin flip MM, the games become lottery more than ever.

I feel bad for the people in my placements in my first season I believe it was the end S7. I had been playing with a group of diamond/plat players in norms and my first 3 placements games were WITH Diamonds & high Plats. However, my skill level was Bronze I felt so bad that playing with high elo friends messed with my mmr that it messed up many people's games. I was 7 placements in and still seeing gold players.
