Easiest way to get out of bronze: learn to last hit

I Kill Commies·3/20/2015, 1:01:34 AM·70 votes·4,835 views

So I was playing on my bronze smurf account and I decided to try something. Normally when I play on my smurf I just kill whoever I'm facing in lane over and over again in order to get fed and carry. But I realize that this is not something that everyone in bronze can do to carry. The reason that I get lots of kills is that my laning mechanics are alot better, but another bronze player probably couldn't get that fed.

So I decided to try something. I was playing top lane jax vs renekton, and I decided to not try kill the renekton, I just focused on farming. I used my stun defensively to avoid getting bullied early, other than that all I did was last hit. I even died to renekton once ~5 minutes in when their jungler got a good gank on me. However, at 12 minutes I had 110 cs while their renekton had 40.

That's 70 cs difference in just 12 minutes of play. Even though I died to renekton once I was a level and an item ahead of him. If 18cs = 1 kill then I was almost 4 kills worth of gold up on him. I then killed him in lane and he raged about how OP jax was, and his exact words were "so fukin bullshit that you can just kill me while you're behind". The renekton actually thought he was ahead in lane just because he killed me once, even though he missed out on 70 cs. This is the mentality that keeps people in bronze. You need to realize that kills are actually unimportant in low elo, and that the effort you put into trying to get kills could just be put into farming instead, with much better results.

EDIT: I'm not trying to say that better CSing is the only thing wrong with bronze players, or that every bronze player is bad at CSing, etc. I'm just saying I notice a very clear pattern of people in bronze thinking that kills are the definitive answer to carrying games. If your lane opponent is harassing you, trying to kill you, and missing cs while doing it then you don't have to harass back and try to get a kill. If you just focus on not dying and hitting cs you will get ahead of them. And if you get 18 more cs than them it's basically like you killed them. Minions are alot easier to kill than champions guys!

It's not that simple. What a bronze player will learn from this post is to last hit. But being the bronze player that they are they will focus on last hitting and the problem of them going 0-20-0 is not solved. It will not change bad decision making, zero map awareness, bad engages, overextending, not warding, etc.

Easiest way to get out of bronze: not having to play against smurfs all the time.

Oh wait. Thats not possible. My bad.

I'm sorry. I get you mean this well, but the point of having a smurf is to get easy wins by exploiting the lack of skill/experience of other players. And that is never helpful. Not even to your own team, because they just get carried and learn nothing.

I average ~7 cs/minute with an average of 3 deaths per game in Bronze 5. Just because you went up against someone that couldn't CS doesn't mean that's the biggest reason people are there.

Climbing out of Bronze isn't about what you should do, rather it's about what you shouldn't do. Bronze players get there simply because they do things they shouldn't.

Its weird when someone like just gets out of bronze and then they act like they're the best player ever and make a how to get out of bronze guide

I wish it was that easy. I want to get out of Bronze, but it's just not that easy. If you can't carry hard every match or get lucky with solid mates, you will not get out.

Csing is more than just last hitting. Its also about lane control so you miss as little cs as possible when youre roaming or backing. a lott of people have this issue through low gold

Not trying to take away from the fact that CSing is more important than the bronze chase, but it also has to do a lot with the fact that you outscale (renekton) almost everyone starting mid game with just a triforce.

If csing well was all it took to leave bronze it wouldn't have taken me 3 promos...not 3 promo games, but 3 fucking promos to climb out of bronze into silver in preseason...A lot of people are in bronze due to not playing often and the combination of feeders and afkers affect your games heavily down here

Not all bronze players are that bad. My question is how do I close out a game? My team is too retarded to take objectives so I end up split pushing but when like 3 people come to gank me, they dont push the other lanes that are free to be pushed ;-; I crei everytime

I don't know about levels lower or above but I seem to be one of the only people who can CS in an average lobby at an average rate. I'm not lvl 30 yet.

I always like to go by the rule of 2 involving my deaths. If I have 2 or less deaths, that's fine. If I have 3 or more deaths then somewhere along the line some mistakes are being made and I could have avoided handing out gold to the enemy team. I should review what I did wrong to prevent it in the future.

Tanks (Particularly initiators) may be more prone to dying, and of course your likelihood of dying more is highly relative to the game itself. However, high death counts screams fundamental mistakes.

Also, failing to close out games, overstaying and overall poor objective/vision control is rampant there.

I've gotten up 100 cs by about 15 minutes, but that was in matchups where I countered them and they played passive the whole time. Also if you are AA based AD or even if you aren't auto attack based a shiv or hydra goes a long way to helping with farming, it may not teach you to last hit but it can help you clear and get more farm.

Never been in bronze, but I have noticed that while I keep up in CS early. I tend to quit caring about it once teamfighting starts. It has bit me in the ass about 1/10 of the time, but it really hasn't mattered much. It might be because I am a jungler, but even when I adc, I don't see it hurting me very often. It also probably skews my CS/Min to look horrible. So moral of the story being CS/Min can be misleading.

Also, make sure you have fairly good ping. Makes last hitting so much easier.
