Tips for winning promotions?

ouioui2012··3 votes·553 views

This season I started at B5 got to B4 and failed my B3 promotions 3 times, here is my history http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-history/NA1/49239115, nearly every single game I had the highest gold, damage dealt and KDA in my team, in almost all of those games I was the carry. Furthermore I main the adc role and queue up as adc/jungle, it used to be adc/support,but I always got support, I know how to attack-move,position in a team fight, how to freeze/slow push/shove a wave and to not overextend. My question is how can can I win these promotions? Is there something im missing?

  1. Drop the attack speed quints and get AD. Bumps your ability damage to win trades and also lets you last hit easier especially early on
  2. Fewer attack speed items. Rapid fire shit damage isnt a big of a threat when you have a small window to burst. Most games looks like you're going for 2 zeal items with 1 damage item. Just pick 1 and bump up damage and sustain
  3. Lack of sustain. Same as 2, ditch a speed item and get some more damage and lifesteal. Drop fervor and get warlords on almost all ADCs

The only time you really benefit heavily from speed on ADCs is if they have on hit procs like vayne and varus. Above will let you stay on the map longer and survive teamfights longer. After winning a skirmish you can just lifesteal back up and take objectives or cleanup kills rather than fight then go heal in fountain which I find A LOT of lower ELO players do by fighting, then go back without doing anything meaningful.

Especially with Sivir you dont want a ton of attack speed since you'll blow through all your ricochet charges for tickle damage super fast when you want them to be hitting super hard. Her ricochet is an auto attack reset too so you can auto then W right away to get a double hit in

With Elise start with taliman rather than machete to get more sustain and mana regen. Stop rushing mobi boots and finish your jungle item. Mobis right after machete is literally the worst thing you can build. Use magic pen marks and scaling AP glyphs. You dont need MR in the jungle and having faster clear and higher gank burst will take you much further. Low ELO jungling invade A LOT. Most bad junglers dont orbwalk much and get low health in the jungle for easy kills = they cant gank any lanes. Their laners likely will be totally blind and wont help out in their jungle either

Should help all games and not just promos

For Elise machete Is far better than talisman and first buy mobis Is pretty good it Is built by Rank 1 Elise in the world. Also its not my main role

Treat promos like they are normal matches so you don't tilt. The free win you get for being under Plat 5 is ridiculously nice anyway in case you do lose your promos.

Overall tips: Keep learning, work on builds and stick to Cait / Sivir for now. You do pretty good with those 2. Work on improving your builds with them so you have more damage output. Right now your damage output is a bit low. If you kept your KDA where its at but dealt more damage per game you would win a lot more. Right now it looks like you are either playing a bit too safe and building off from optimal. For an example, in your 6-5-7 sivir game you picked up an executioners calling vs a team that it didn't do much to. You could have instead turned the brawlers glove into a zeal and worked on getting more crit and attack speed.

wtf ? They had a soraka, it was a really nice build.

I'd suggest you take the lifesteal mastery, and maybe add a tiny bit of lifesteal in your 4th item build.

Also GA is great if your team can protect you while you revive. If they are all dead when you revive it's not this usefull, better have lifesteal or a item 3812 to survive longer.

You can keep playing sivir, but you have to improve your csing. Sivir is great at csing, you shouldnt be at 5cs a minut.

(also you should go for : item 3508 => item 3046 => item 3031 , not ie before phd)

Blind leading the blind. You build executioner calling to counter someone that is sustain tanking, not to just counter soraka heal lol.

Also why wasn't calling a good build vs Soraka?

Starcraft243ver2 votes

It is. Proof in my post.

What the heck ?

Gragas has sustain. Ahri has sustain. Jinx had sustain. Soraka has sustain. Yasuo will build at least one sustain item.

and you call executioner a bad build ? Given that sivir can apply grievious wound to the whole ennemy team with her Q/W it was a fracking MUST buy.

Not even mentionning that the passive of this items only costs around 300 gold which is nothing compared to the utility it provided in this situation.

and you are d5, stop trolling please.

rofl, and you are PLAT, wtf is your point? They barely had enough sustain for it to be worth building.

My point was how a diam could say so much crap. Also i've been d3 s6

and last it's 300 gold to cut all heal in half, it's nearly alway worth building.

My friend pointed out what server you were from and noted that you probably do not actually fully understand the items and abilities in this game, so I went ahead and explained my point with facts. Enjoy.

You said "Gragas has sustain. Ahri has sustain. Jinx had sustain. Soraka has sustain. Yasuo will build at least one sustain item."

Ok, first let me start off by explaining what executioner's calling does. It applies what is called GRIEVOUS WOUNDS for 3 seconds. What this does is reduces all healing received by 40%. This is the important part to remember.

Also, just to throw in there so you understand, it builds out of LONG SWORD and is 800 gold in total. A long sword is 350, so it costs 450 for the passive, not the 300 you were guessing, and takes up an inventory spot!

Now, you said they had sustain, so lets go over what sustain is. When we are talking about using grievous wounds as a counter item you want to counter people that have SUSTAIN through some sort of HEALTH REGEN. This is the key part, if it isn't through HEALING OF SOME SORT then the ite is actually useless.

You said gragas has sustain, the only item he built for sustain is Spectre's Cowl - it gives 150% base health regen over 10 seconds after taking damage from an enemy. You do not need executioners for this because it turns off automatically if they take damage. Some people have the misconception that his W is a heal, it is actually not, it is a DAMAGE REDUCTION, NOT HEALING. So therefor, his only sustain he has as far as health regen comes in is from his PASSIVE.

A passive is an ability that a champion has that happens, as you would get it, PASSIVELY. Just throwing this in there because I am here to educate.

Now, his PASSIVE gives 6% of his max health after using an ability and can only happen once every 8 seconds.

He finished the game at level 16, which gives 1872 base health. The ONLY health items he bought was the spectre' cowl and ruby crystal. This means he has 2272 health. His passive does 136 restore EVERY 8 SECONDS. This means in a fight he will probably only hit his passive once or twice, which is 136-272 health regen.

Executioners calling reduces this to 81.6 - 163.8. For 800 gold, and an item slot, you reduced a whopping 81-163 health per fight. This is insignificant. If the sivir bought an attack speed item instead and hit a **SINGLE AUTO ATTACK EXTRA ** the sivir would have done more than enough damage to make up for this.

You said Ahri has sustain. I hate to inform you, but NOT A SINGLE ITEM AHRI BUILT HAS SUSTAIN. NOT EVEN A LITTLE, NONE, 0%.

Her passive gives her a small heal, but NOT SUSTAIN. At max level it is 18 + 9% AP. Again, a single auto attack negates this. Doesn't require grievous wounds. This means since she had 275 AP she gains, at max level, 42.75 health back. She needs 3 abilities for this to hit. This is not enough to sustain her into a sustain tank by any means. Reducing it to 25.65 is not worth the money at all. Literally, that is what you gained off this, that is like a third of a level 1 auto attack.

You said Jinx had sustain - she only had a vampiric septer which gives 10% life steal. Jinx is NOT a sustain tank. A sustain tank would be a champion like SWAIN. SWAIN would be a good champion to build executioner's against btw. Reducing the jinx's lifesteal from 10% to 6% is not going to win a team fight since she is what we call a SQUISHY.

Now you said that Yasuo will build at least once sustain item, well, he didn't, not a SINGLE ONE, NONE. So no, he didn't, and he had no sustain.

So that literally just leaves Soraka. Her W and R both heal. Each time she does it it will cost her 10% of her health and cannot be cast if she is under 5%. It gives 80-200 + 60% AP based on level.

She had 95 AP.

With Max W she is doing 257 heal. Executioner's calling reduces that to 154.2. Max level she can cast this once every 2 seconds.

Since I now established that soraka's heals are the ONLY SUSTAIN IN THE GAME WORTHY OF EXECUTIONER'S, lets go over some basics.

Reducing it from 257 to 154.2 is saving 102.8 damage, which again, is less than hitting a single extra auto attack from having a zeal, crit or not.

So that is pointless since the W does NOT make someone a sustain tank.

So lets go over the R, it does 250 at level 2, which is what she had, since it takes level 16 to have level 3 and 55% AP. She had 95 AP so that would mean that it does 302 regen to 5 team mates, so 1511 health. Executioner's calling reduces this to 906.75. This means you saved only 604 health from being healed. 3 auto attacks, which is the bottom end of what simply having a dagger vs an executioner's calling in a team fight, would make up for this. Turn the dagger into a zeal and you did way more damage than she did sustain, WAY more. Vs a soraka you don't need to build grevious wounds, you need to bait the heal or smash the soraka.

You are literally saying he did a good job for building an item to just counter Soraka and then tried to back it up by pointing out that the 4 other people had sustain. Executioners calling is good for people that TANK based off of MASSIVE SUSTAIN. Swain, Aatrox, those are good champs to have it vs. Soraka is not.

I just proved that not a single person besides soraka had health sustain and that soraka's health sustain does not make someone a sustain tank, it simply gives a little bit of burst health which is easy to negate with more damage.

#schooled.

Well actually, it's commonly admitted that EUW is slightly above NA, or that they are quite even which I can agree on.

Actually I could counter your whole argumentation just by showing you this :

High master player, former challenger, NA (seems you value NA players), litterally STARTING FIRST ITEM : Executioner, when facing soraka. (The build order is provided as well). Also Probuild seems to tell me this account is Qtpie's one's.

But, eh maybe it's situationnal, just one game.

Now, let me tell you why your maths are flawed and why you are a liar.

So that literally just leaves Soraka. Her W and R both heal. Each time she does it it will cost her 10% of her health and cannot be cast if she is under 5%. It gives 80-200 + 60% AP based on level.

So that is pointless since the W does NOT make someone a sustain tank.

Maybe you didnt notice soraka had the healing mastery, so +10% heals. But. Mickael too : +20% heals But. Ardent censor : +10% heals + healing on hit for yasuo or jinx ?

So, with W max she's healing for 257 x 1.4 = 359. Also, did you notice she has 45% CDR ? So the heal isnt occuring every 2 seconds. It's every 1.1s.

So basically Soraka was healing for 359/1.1 = 326 hp/s. ( this whitout the on hit heal given by ardent censor).

I could stop there and you would already be so wrong you shouldnt even plan to answer anything else than "I apologize."

But you decided to act as a smartass, even tough you have a mere understanding of theorycraft, so i'll go a bit further.

Let's calculate sivir's dps : Level 14, sivir has : 86.6 base damages 0.75 AS

Add the runes : +8.5AD +13.5%AS

Add the masteries : +4% AS +8 AD +3% all damages (when stacked) +7% AR pen +50AD (max fervor stacked lvl 14)

items IE +70 AD +20%CRIT +50% DMG CRIT berserk boots +30% AS doran +7AD Essence reaver +70 AD +20% CRIT brawlers gloves +10% CRIT

competences : bonus AS of ricochets : 45%

Let's say everything is stacked and ricochet is activated, because I want to prove you you are wrong even in the best case scenario for sivir.

Total : AD : 300 AS : 1.44 CRIT : 50% %CRIT DMG :+50% Total : 300 x 1.44 x 1.75 x 1.03 = 779 DPS

Add executionner :

Total : AD : 315 AS : (0.75 x (1+0.3+0.135+0.45+0.04)) = 1.44 CRIT : 50% %CRIT DMG +50% Total : 315 x 1.44 x 1.75 x 1.03 = 817 DPS

Combine browlers for a zele (same exact price) : Total : AD : 300 AS : (0.75 x (1+0.3+0.135+0.45+0.04+0.15)) = 1.56 CRIT : 60% %CRIT DMG +50% Total : 916 dps

That's raw dps, which means, on the jinx :

Jinx stats : armor : 65.2

  • runes : 9
  • heal mastery of soraka : +18 Total 92 armor (about the same for yasuo).

Total reduction of damages : 1 - (100 / (100 + 0.93 x 92 ) ) (because of sivir's mastery) Total : 46.1% reductions.

So sivir dps on jinx/yasuo with executionner : 440 dmg/s

Sivir dps on jinx/yasuo with zele : 493 dmg/s

Soraka heals for 326hp/s if sivir has zele Soraka heals for 195hp/s if sivir has executionner

Which means you would trade a 131 heal/s for +53 dmg/s

Oh, did you remember this is if soraka just uses her W ? Now you can add her ult. You can add the ardent censor passive, you can add gragas passive, you can add ahri's passive, you can add jinx scepter.

You can add that the earning in dps is even less if you target someone with more armor than jinx or yasuo, while the healing reduction stays constant.

You can add the fact the zele doesnt add anything to sivir's Q, and W (apart +10% chances of crit for the W), but the +15AD from executionner are usefull and these spells all apply grievious wound.

So, schooled ? Pff. Come back when you can do some accurate theorycraft please.

Yawn, not even going to bother reading your useless post. If you think late game executioners is needed to counter just a soraka you are really bad and uneducated in builds. Enjoy continuing to demote since you aren't getting dynamic boosted any more. I'll continue being diamond again, and again, and again...

No,

First, I dont "think". I mathematically proved it. With actual numbers, not "which is less than an auto attack from sivir" bullshit without any calculations nor number to back it up.

Secondly, after doing some research about high elo build, now I even think first item executionner is actually quite good to counter just soraka, and since Imaqtpie seems to think the same, I'm quite confident about this opinion.

Stay stubborn and little, it lets more room for smart people to grow big.

My goal wasnt to educate you, it was just to prevent you from missadvising OUIOUI2012 or any other people reading this post and willing to improve.

Just this could actually show you dont understand theorycraft or building :

Also, just to throw in there so you understand, it builds out of LONG SWORD and is 800 gold in total. A long sword is 350, so it costs 450 for the passive, not the 300 you were guessing, and takes up an inventory spot!

Long sword is 350 gold, meaning 1 AD cost 35 gold, Executionner gives 15 AD, which means it's worth 525 gold, and thus the passive doesnt cost 300, you are right.

The passive part costs only 275.

I could keep reading your post 10 time and find another 10 mistakes quite easily.

There is a MASSIVE difference between building it early to counter a soraka in a lane where you plan on fighting a lot vs building it late game. Late game he would need to auto attack every single person on the enemy team to make it worth while. Early game in laning phase it would constantly keep Soraka's heal down. THE OP BUILT IT LATE GAME NOT EARLY GAME. Not sure why you are unable to comprehend this. The item, vs only Soraka, is WORTHLESS late game. It is ONLY GOOD early game if you don't want a farm lane. What do I know though? I am on my 3rd year diamond and you don't even have rewards from your 'diamond season,' hmm, wonder why.... Enjoy giving out shitty advice. Enjoy having a 38% win rate in your last 20 solo Q games.

YOU SAID all of them had sustain which is why it was good.

I PROVED that they did not all have sustain and that it was WORTHLESS LATE GAME.

So to argue with me you had to look up ANOTHER PERSON'S GAME and try to use that to justify your OPINION after I beat you with FACTS. But you were too slow to realize that the person you pointed out didn't buy it for LATE GAME they bought it strictly for LANING PHASE.

#Clueless.

Starcraft243ver1 votes

Late game he would need to auto attack every single person on the enemy team to make it worth while.

No. I just proved attacking the one healed by soraka is enough to make it worth buying. And not by a small margin, it was a whole 2.5 time more efficient (just taking soraka's W into account) than building the zele at this point.

I dont know why you try to argue against pure maths when you only have words to try to back up your claims. You just can't fight proof with "i'm sure of that".

Also since sivir has some nice AOE damages and that executionner apply his passive upon dealing physical damages it's makes it even more usefull in this situation.

I dont see how my winrate or my rewards are some kind of argument in there but since I really like proving you wrong (even if it's really easy, can you make it harder please ?)

you don't even have rewards from your 'diamond season,'

https://i.imgur.com/Q1V7n2f.png

You dont know how the game works, you dont know how the boards work :/, maybe try to check your facts before writting, or maybe you like the fake news stuff. Rewards are displayed only on the board of the region you got them from.

THE OP BUILT IT LATE GAME NOT EARLY GAME.

I'm not sure we can call "2 items + boots" build "late game", but it doesnt really matter.

What do I know though? I am on my 3rd year diamond

So you basically mean you stopped improving 3 years ago ? :/ Sad.

Early game in laning phase it would constantly keep Soraka's heal down.

So your first argument was : "soraka's W is on too high CD and doesnt heal enough to make executionner worth". But in early game when cd is even higher and heal lower you would call it a must buy.

I mean, try to show some logic please. Either you think soraka's CD's and heals are not enough to be worth buying an executionner, or you think the opposite, but not both at the same time.

I PROVED that they did not all have sustain and that it was WORTHLESS LATE GAME.

You just proved that your definition of sustain is very personnal and not shared by any other person.

I proved, with actual numbers, the soraka in his game was healing people for 326hp/s just with her W, which, in my opinion can be called a nice sustain.

I also proved that buying a Zele only gives sivir 100 more raw damages per second than buying an executionner.

And that these 100 raw damages translates into basically 53 damages per second on low armor targets.

I tough it was basic logic there : if soraka heals a 100 armored target for 100hp, the adc has to deal 200 more raw damages (if he doesnt have any penetration), to negate this heal.

So to argue with me you had to look up ANOTHER PERSON'S GAME and try to use that to justify your OPINION

Nope, I just wanted to show that :

  1. People way better than you and me think as I do.
  2. I wasnt doing some crazy theorycraft with no practical use case.

after I beat you with FACTS.

Facts ? You misspelled "fake".

Telling soraka was healing for 257 when she was healing for 359 because you didnt take his masteries nor itemization into account is a fact ? Nope it's a fake.

Telling soraka's W is on a 2s cd when it's on a 1.1s cd because of her itemisation is a fact ? Fake again.

Telling that Zele was a better buy than executioner ? Numbers proved you wrong again.

Fake, fake, fake everywhere.

I can see why you are looking for ad hominem arguments. But it's still disgusting.

PS : oh nothing to add about the maths on how much the cost of executionner's passive was ? Because it was another fake from you I busted no ?
