[Champ Select] A Minor Change That Could Help A Lot: Auto-select Smite for the Jungle Role

I am sure this has been mentioned before but...

With the changes to the jungle (random dragon buffs for different team comps, jungle invades with timers of blue/red, etc..) coming up, I feel that the summoner 11 will become even more impactful that ever before. And sometimes, players make the mistake of forgetting to change that summoner spell or they are just trolling.

So, in that case that they really forget, I'd like to suggest having auto-selecting summoner 11 for whoever is in the jungle role. Or even better (imo) having the system lock smite with the jungle role.

Example:** I get the role of jungle in Champ Select and you get the role of the mid lane. I have smite already selected. We want to swap and so when we swap, the system automatically selects smite for you. This is having the smite spell locked onto the ROLE of the jungle and not the player. **

Anyways, this is more of a precautionary idea for junglers. With the new champ select where everyone already has a designated role and trades involving 2 players at a time, I don't know anything about programming but I think for Riot Games, it should be doable and not to much of a hassle to implement. If there cons, please let me know what they could be. :)

Thanks for checking this discussion!

I'm no sure locking in smite is a good idea at least for the fact that the spell may get locked on the wrong key, but having it preselected as one of the players spell seems like a good idea.

I think it kind of overcomplicates things to deal with swapping. Even your suggested fix would be kind of clunky for players that like to manage summoners first and forget about it, for example. I also don't think they want to mandate this kind of thing for premade 5s messing around with off-meta stuff.

Whiteknight's preselection idea sounds like a reasonable suggestion in compromise, if such a thing were to be considered.
