How does this sh*tty ranked system work??

I was Gold 3 last season, and today I finished my season 6 provisionals. I went 7-3, was quite positive in all of the games (score and attitude-wise) and you know where I got placed? Bronze I. I really don't care, because who cares I'm only Gold it's not like it really matters, and it's not gonna be hard to carry myself back up, but really? How does that even happen??? I would expect at least Silver II from that score... Like I really just don't understand.
