Looking for some feedback on new Sion, possibly some tips.

So, as the title says I'm mostly looking for some feedback on the new Sion. I've played a few games with him now on live, as well as testing him out when he was on Beta and something just feels off to me. My general experience goes something like this.

Very, very strong early to mid game, especially while in lane. I've dominated or at least forced a draw in most of my games with him top. He's just hard to push out of lane, and if you are farming well the health gain is super useful. Not to mention the fact that he trades quite well against most of the champs that you run into up there, his shield blocks a fair bit of damage and even slightly charged your Q hits like a truck. All in all a pretty solid time. I haven't tried him out in jungle yet so I can't speak for that experience, though I have seen mixed results in my games.

Mid to late game is sort of where I start to run into some problems. Sion is extremely slow, and as such champions that focus on mobility become very hard to deal with. Even with the slow provided from your E, and the knock-up on your ultimate any champion with a dash for MS boost becomes very hard to actually lock down for your carries. Your Q is relatively easy to roll out of and at that point popping your shield generally isn't an option as they have gotten out of it's range. This removes a VERY large chunk of your damage. Not to mention the fact that pretty much any range champion can keep him at bay after about the 25 minute mark. One last thing is that his lack of any practical gap closer makes it quite hard for him to peel for your allies, something that a lot of champs that do his job have.

My biggest issue though is probably with his passive. I know it's a passive and isn't supposed to be game changing, but it just feels useless to me. Most of the other revive passives have something about them that just makes them work. For example:

Yorick - You retain full use of your abilities throughout the revive, keeping you just as useful as you were before you revive. Karthus - You become un-targetable with persistant AoE damage and unlimited mana. If you get killed early in the middle of a team fight you are still a HUGE threat. Zac - If the enemy team focuses your blobs on death, your team gets free reign to basically do as they please. Vice versa and after a few seconds you get a fairly disruptive tank back in the fight. Similar idea with Anivia. Kog'Maw - You gain a reasonable speed boost and become untargetable, eventually exploding for true damage. Great in both team fights and duels, thought still relatively east to avoid.

Sion, on the other had, pauses immediately after death, giving his opponent time to get away, after which you have about a second to decide who to lumber off after. You get a one time speed boost that, while quick, is easily countered with a slow of any kind, at which point you are about done. CC of any kind renders his revive passive completely useless, without really any way to recover. The fact that CC even affects him in his passive slightly confuses me, seeing as he is supposed to just become an unstoppable raging behemoth. Though I can see why that may not have happened for balance issues.

Has anyone else run into problems like this or similar? Or maybe it's just time for me to hang the old boy up. Would appreciate some feedback, thanks.

I find him much better in the jungle than top lane. Ganking with his ult into a charged Q on top of any cc your laner has can be quite deadly. I also find that he stacks a lot of health farming the jungle allowing you to build more damage on him an still keep on par in tankiness with other tanky junglers

here's my well-written, fleshed out opinion of the new Sion: HE SUCKS!

Just play him jungle. Everyone beats him in lane. And his ganks aren't half bad.
