Hi~! I started playing League of Legends two days ago, i knew about it and first of i HATED this game. It made the people i know ignore me and just behave like plain asses towards me when they where playing and i asked something or even just gave them a drink, but oh well... I do play it now and it is sort of fun BUT this is a mayor issue that bugs the hell out of me.

Newbies & Smurfs.

Smurfs are the accounts that originally high level players make to, i don't know, bother or help newbies? I don't really see the point of it, but that aside. They behave like giant -beeping- asses. ALL THE TIME. Why, why would you try and chase away NEWBIES from the game? Telling them that they suck so bad they should uninstall right away. Dude, i OWN the bots but against real people its something completely else beside... starting to call me names and whatever in a different language? Yes i was losing my lane badly but that was because i had a mirror and a counter.

No seriously, people of LOL and Riot.... most smurfs are horrible. They try to chase the new players away. Most people can't instantly win everything with every champion. Especially not when its the first time you play him, her or it. Its ridiculous really. You can not even talk with these people, their just that pathetic. I ignored it but its not fun... i can see how many people would just stop playing instantly when your first gaming experience is that bad. Being called names, foul language, refusing to talk english when he/she doesn't get what he/she wants (or you don't obey like a good trained dog), doesn't play with the team, etc, etc.

The one... ONE... smurf i encountered that didn't act like an ass was trying to sort of help an encouraged even if you died many many times. That was pretty cool, i mean... i really tried my best but it was the first time playing full support so yeah, i messed up.. a lot. But yeah... that was pretty cool and nice, we ended up winning to. It looked bad at first but we won in the end.

I just wanted to complain and get to your attention that a lot of smurfs behave like 12year old brats with behavior and language problems. They chase new players away. And that's to bad, like this the game also gets a really bad rep. They will tell how horrible people are on here. I don't get why you would ruin a game for others... for the fun of it?

I am smurfing right now, and I have to say that smurfs don't usually get to play with newbies if they have a high mmr.

The smurfs that play with newbies are usually bad bronze players that like to flame alot.

Most people play a smurf while they're main account is on a ban! Due to something like trolling, profanity, harassment, racial slurs, death threats, ect.

So ya, It's really no coincidence most smurfs are complete jerks! :P

This is the sort of elitism that drove me from WOW back in the day, It was IMPOSSIBLE do do any of the PVP arenas because 4 out of 5 champs we're TWINK'S with more then 5x your health!

The general attitude was disgusting! Your team was mad at you for being a true lowbie, and the enemy TWINKS would spot you from a mile away and kill you in seconds! All the while "Non - TWINK's shouldn't play battle grounds!!!!" was the majority attitude... People forget what it's like to be the new guy... at least in LOL it's statistically improbable that you'll face the same jerk twice! (Remember to block!)

I remember that climb up to lvl 30, It can be daunting but don't give up! And be sure to send friend requests to people you actually enjoyed playing with!

Oh, I certainly sympathize. I ran into this a lot when I was starting out. A lot of smurfs are smurfing because they were banned, however. It's no wonder they're extremely toxic!

My advice? Just mute them and move on. They're jerks. The system will sort them out soon enough.

Personally, I do have a smurf account (even though I'm not level 30 yet!) I use it to practice champions and roles I perform way below par at for my current mmr. I've a set of rules I follow every time:

  1. Don't play something I'm good at while smurfing. New players don't deserve to be stomped on.
  2. Never insult a teammate. Yes, they're going to do some outrageously stupid things, but that's because they're learning. They're new.
  3. Don't take charge. Keep the advice to a minimum. Sure, I'll inform my teammates what I'm planning, what kinds of plays I'm about to make, but I don't want to direct the match. I just want to blend in and let things take their course.
  4. Don't buy snowball items (e.g. Mejai's). As a more experienced player, I can charge these braindead easy even with a champion I'm bad at -- just by staying alive. It's simply not fair or fun for the other team.

I may or may not bend or break the above rules in the event my team is playing a 4v5.

I may've smurfed with you before. Who knows? Odds are you'd never know if I did, though. I do my best to stick below the radar. I'm just there to practice "off" roles, not ruin anyone's fun. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of smurfs were the same way.

Very true! I often find myself playing on my Kat only smurf for practice and it irks me very very much when they are flaming players who are clearly new to the game. (They do this everywhere, so pay little mind! It happens on my level 10, in silver ELO and even on my Plat account!) I have to be sure to remind them that normal games don't give LP; and that this isn't their ELO so they best not be expecting much. (No offence!) I'll usually have one player that feeds their lane for some reason or another, but getting upset at them won't miraculously make them win the game. It can be a bit frustrating though! One game I had a Yi top take more damage than our support Nautilus, simply because he got bodied so hard by Garen top, lol! We won that game though; in fact he was the one who was raging. He was amazed by the end, though. Sure Garen was fed, but there are three lanes and a jungle! Trick is to stay calm, and you'll statistically win more games. Tilting is very bad. :[

And if they're giving you a hard time? I suggest using the /mute all command. You're levelling and you will get better as you progress in the game, promise!

Also, keep it in mind that you can do well against someone who counters you! Most of the time there is even potential to outplay and/or beat them. :) Just try not to get bodied and the laning phase is definitely not the end of the game!

Note that I main support, so prefer not to do that while smurfing (unless you want me to do something oddball, like support Ashe -- sure, I'll do that). I'll happily take any other role though, and I promise I'm not a jerk!

I feel your pain, I've been there, I only started playing last year and only recently got to level 30. Please stick with it as there is so much to learn.

Don't be afraid to ask for help and if someone is giving you a hard time ask them to give you specific instruction that will help rather giving you a hard time. Let your team know you want to grow and learn. If they are still rude or toxic please use the reporting tool at the end of the match. There's a good chance that they are playing a smurf as their main account is banned or suspended in some way because of their behaviour.

this is not smurf specific...internet nerds are unstable, underdeveloped, hormone raging black holes of etiquette, compassion, and tact. Its not just this game, but it appears that something about it feeds the beast more so than others...i came here from call of duty, and it was a culture shock to say the least, and that's saying something.

Anywho, id be glad to help you figure this game out. im just now starting to understand whats going on and it took a lot of work, but i am more than happy to pay it forward (^_^)
