As with all roles, it's not about your KDA, it's about your overall contributions. This may include things like damage/healing, objectives taken, vision control and CS. This isn't Team Deathmatch after all.

as weird as it may sound, you will never get an S as support without getting a few kills urself. so if you had 3/0/18 that would be a S for sure

I've gotten S ranks on Braum Sona and support Nautilus this season, and I don't even play support that often.
