Season End Clarification Needed + Proposal for Season Extension with Scenarios Explained

Alright , I know I'm not the only one:

I googled when League of Legends Season 5 ended and at what exact time. I did not find any sort of information other than that November 11, 2015 12:01 AM ranked queues would be going down. I didn't know if this was (NA's) original server time which was PST, I didn't know if this was Chicago time, I didn't know if this was Martian and alien time because no source clarified the specific time zone the server was using. I was extremely confused and I was not finding answers anywhere.

Not only that, but if we're operating on different time zone, server 12:01 is different around the world for NA season end. I would like to propose two through three things.

  1. A countdown shall be added to the League of Legends client, sending out warnings periodically and the countdown permanently dispalyed on one of the news panels so players know exactly how much time they have and when they need to start winning games at 20 minutes instead of dragging things out to 40 minutes.
  2. A list of the servers and the season end time and dates adjusted around the world shall be posted to a sticky discussion board. It would help, say for example someone living on the east coast of the US. They know that NA server time is the same as PST or West coast time zone. 12:01 AM is 3:01 AM for EST. Now the math to do is simple because PST and EST is a time period of three hours difference. But what if someone in Europe needed the translation, and also needed to account for Daylights Saving Time as well? It would be a more complicated calculation and the information would already be on the post right there for all eyes to see across the world.

Now number 3 is a long shot for Riot to consider, but I think if enough people ponder over it and agree that "Hey, yes, there wasn't much clarification about what exact time it was ending, I also looked for the boards post for ## hours and found not much more information. I think this is fair and people would extremely like this type of justice" then it could very well be implemented. 3) Extend ranked to include the first ## hours of the new patch. Now it could be only 24 hours of an extension , or Riot could be nice and decide, hey. There's about 7 weeks left this year. We can extend the season for another 2 weeks. My reasoning for the extension was due to the fact we had received not much clarity over when the season ended and there was no information on the boards regarding to what time zone (PST or Chicago time? CST?) season 5 ended at 12:01. I've looked on boards and some assumed it was CST, others assumed it was PST. This caused a conundrum.

As someone that had won 2 of the 3 series games to get to Gold V before the season actually ended, I was confused on whether at 1:00 AM EST time, if I had one minute.. or 2 hours to win. I had gotten to the second game of my series when ranked went down, was allowed to party up with my duo, but there was an error message saying "blah-blah-blah" don't try to ranked queue, it's down and then moments later the ranked queues were entirely disabled.

Now... there is an issue with all of a sudden adding an extension to the season. A. People that have "YOLO'd" after ranked once they achieved their dreams and possibly demoted . My advice for dealing with that would be, the could choose the date of which they want the rewards from. For example, say if I had actually gotten to Gold V in solo queue. I'm so happy and so excited for the season rewards, When season is over I jump in queue and decide to Teemo support all day every day ten games in a row and lose all of them and I'm demoted. Suddenly Riot comes out with a boards post and a News bulletin that says. "Season 5: Extended! Ranked queues will count towards Season 5 rewards up to the date of Nov/Dec ##, 2015! Good luck in the fields of Justice!" I am suddenly so afraid that, I just lost my Gold rewards because I decided to YOLO just for the hell of it in queue and oh my god, I won't get rewards anymore. At this point, there should be a bulletin that could say that we can choose our season end date. The new date or the old date. And those that have done exactly this will most likely decide the old date.

B. I've already gotten my rewards! They can't just extend the date, I already got my cool Bronze border and Bronze legendary skin! There's a place for you too, scenario B. Those people that have already gotten their rewards have the same choice of New date vs Old Date for season deadline. Would it be more work for Riot to redistribute out a Silver/Gold/Plat/Diamond/Master/Challenger reward in replacement of the old border because they chose to try for that next division and ranked? Absolutely. In scenario B, I, a Silver 1 with 2 of 3 series games won already and Gold 2 team 8 of 10 wins would be ecstatic for the chance to try and get some type of Gold reward! I would choose having the New Date as my season deadline and putting all my effort into improving in solo queue for my second chance of life. This is the offer of the lifetime for those that are on the edge of success!

C. I'm Diamond/Platinum/Silver/Bronze 2-4, there is no way I can climb in the allotted time, I'll be happy with the rewards I've already received. Good for you! Knowing when to throw the towel in is a skill League of Legends players have a hard time learning! However, my advice is to still strive for that next division. Improve, learn, Bronze 3 is better than Bronze 4, If I climb that one hill, I learned how to, so I can do it in Season 6. Those that are happy with their place are happy with their place! It is their decision if they want to use the extension as a challenge to squeeze more games out of League to get a better icon.

Please do let me know if there are any other scenarios that I haven't thought of. I just thought of the most controversial and pressing concerns that come to my mind if Riot were to actually do this. Please leave all types of comments below and remember that Riot is indeed a business a what it comes down to is that they do want customer satisfaction. I think this is serious enough that it could spark some debate. Thank you.

it's fine Caendy is just a shitter that could not make it out of Silver no matter how many Gold III or higher players tried to carry her to Gold V.

Unfortunately, there have been multiple instances where there are a few members of the League community needing just a bit more time to earn end of season rewards; however, I'm not certain that the End of Season here has been made unclear in any way - while NA is comprised of 5 timezones, the server time for NA is PST, which means that midnight applies to PST, not any other timezone for NA.

The countdown timer is a good idea, but Nov. 11th 12:01 AM PST is the same time wherever you are. That's how timezones work.

I googled when League of Legends Season 5 ended and at what exact time.

And here lays your problem, cause you simply had to go to the league page and scroll through the news to find out this info with ease.

and u would find this

http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/page/2015-ranked-season-draws-close

which states: The 2015 season wraps up at the end of day (in your territory) on November 10—technically this means 12:01AM on November 11.
