JUST HIT LEVEL 30! Oh? 9 diamonds in my game?!?!?

  • So i finally made it through the 30 level system & found out i need 16 champs to play ranked
  • I want to play the new dynamic que but que times are 30+ minutes, so i resort to blind pick (2-5 min que times)
  • While i build up the ip for 16 champs i am getting put into lobbies with plenty plat/diamonds on my team & the other team!
  1. I get yelled at consistently for sucking - quote: (go kill yourself, report purplejebus for being sh*t)
  2. I get griefed by the enemy team for getting outplayed.
  3. I'm learning a lot every game but losing consistently & feel obligated to mute the majority of the lobby
  4. I like when people tell me how to improve instead of just slandered for my performance - but this is rare.

Does any one have an understanding as to why i'm in these lobbies with such highly skilled players? What can i do to get myself into an appropriate lobby? *I'm clearly not capable of playing with or against plat/diamonds yet! Amumu item 3070

Can I...uh...see your match history? I have no idea what the cause could be, but I know I've been placed with diamonds recently when I know I'm not nearly good enough for that yet lol.

Because you won a lot ranking up. But, since you were pre-30, the system would attempt to match you against other pre-30's. Admitantly, they were probably smurfs. Now thou, since you have such a high win rate in norms, have fun with diamonds.

Only way to drop mmr is to lose, but that tends to be a bit inconsistent. It's probably easier for you to go ranked at this point, which should put you at around mid-silver mmr. It's not great, especially if this really is a new account, but it's better then plat+.

If you're still doing placements, plat/diamond ppl are placed @ gold after season reset and you're going to run into them often before they climb back up. That being said, it's quite unexpected for diamond ppl to act negatively toward you. Generally ppl who have gotten high enough are well aware of the consequences when they act pessimistically and would refrain from doing so.

If you're already playing ranked matches, then chances are your mmr places you with players unsuited for your capability, and it's going to take a lot of lost games before you drop to where you actually belong. I feel your pain if this is the case, since I'm in the same position myself as I got carried to where I am and my opponents are too good for me to play against :< .

Oh hey, that happened on one of my smurfs. The smurf account is technically level 28 but getting thrown in with diamonds all the same which came as a bit of a surprise, considering this is my main account and is only mid gold currently (although I suspect I won't have much issue getting plat this season), no where near diamond.

So issues arise with sub-30 and freshly 30 accounts who win a lot, as their mmrs go bonkers and it seems to overshoot. Then since theres no similarly fresh and/or sub-30 accounts to matchmake them with, the matchmaking expands a bit wider and you get matched against harder folks. If you win those, then your mmr takes another big jump, and apparently can make the leap up to diamond without passing through gold-plat territory.

I'm pretty sure if you bite the bullet and just keep playing (and perhaps inevitably losing), your mmr will shoot down to something more your speed. It might even overshoot in the other direction, but not quite as much, and there might be a bit of a yoyo effect as the system figures out your 'true' mmr.

Still, you should take getting slapped around by diamonds as a great opportunity to learn, as if you can figure out how they're beating you and manage to get to the level where you can break even with them, then you'll be in a really good place to deal with sub-diamonds who are much worse.

I would kill to play consistently vs/with diamond players. The better the ennemy, the harder/better the lesson.
