Soraka top. Is it still a thing?

I have won 3 games as soraka top in a row putting me on a hot streak until I lost with WW jg. so I decided to go soraka top again, BUT when I entered the lobby and picked soraka someone told me "soraka top isn't a thing anymore" and i told them "I just won 3 rounds in a ROW with soraka top" but he said no and banned her, and I threatened to feed and report, but just decided to dodge instead since I felt like it was going to be a VERY toxic game if i started playing with him.

ever since the 6.5 update soraka has became a very good solo laner with TONS of pushing capability, and sustain, but is also very weak to ganks which is why you ward as much as possible while playing her toplane, and she is also very good against tanks and champs with low mobillity.

Please explain how this works and why this is a thing. So you can Q minion waves...how do you not constantly sit under tower and have your laner roam mid?

So far I won my four games withn her since patch.

First was a Teemo where I had support masteries and runes, that went about even in lane. And i won that 4v5.

The other three games agaisnt Teemo again and against two Vlads with proper setup this time. I wrecked lane. Vlad couldn't even do anything because I had as much damage, but more sustain than him. More sustain than Vlad!
