AT&T and The dreaded lag I face

Staring about a week or two ago every once in a while while I'm in game, I would be rocking a ping around 85-120. But every once and a while my ping would sky rocket to 1k+. I see on the boards other players have this problem but the way i connect to the internet may be a bit different than others.

So my ISP is AT&T U-Verse (Don't ask why i use At&t, wasn't my idea) My Desktop connects to a Netgear wifi booster w/o an ethernet cord which the booster connects to our router

I just wanted to see if anyone connects in a similar way and has this problem with AT&T and has a solution.
