@meddler On the Current state of Taliyah
Ever sine Worlds Patch (I think it was worlds patch), People seem to be having an issue finding success on Taliyah, myself included.
Her ability to shove waves in easily allowed her to do this with ease. Too much ease, and you guys obviously agree with that sentiment. So you guys nerfed her to resolve the issue. The issue now is that Taliyah seems to be unable to do what she was designed to do, roam around or "search for new ground". Her waveclear is lackluster compared to otehr roaming midlaners, and she has the added detriment that she scales extremely poorly in comparison to most other laners. She lacks the CC other roaming midlaners can provide (Aurelion Sol and TF's stuns for example), and her damage falls of really hard (not unlike Sol's if he doesn't get too far ahead).
Comparing her to other popular roaming mid lane champions she seems somewhat lackluster.
Twisted Fate: Hard CC (point and click on a short cooldown), good waveclear. Aurelion sol: Hard CC(if a bit hard to land sometimes), Great waveclear, and good damage. (Now we see why he's being played at worlds) Gangplank: Amazing waveclear, Amazing damage (He does lack a hard CC but his global ability doesn't require that he's actually present.) As for champions that don't have globals and roam a lot you see similar patterns Lissandra: Good damage, a LOT of Hard CC, good waveclear. Ahri: Good damage, hard CC.
Now lets look at Taliyah. Good damage (Combo still hurts), Lackluster waveclear (As Arcsecond said, "[She] can't roam anymore... and she's still gonna be weaker than some other champions late game"). Lack of traditional hard CC (Her displacement ability is unique. But it's worth mentioning it doesn't tie someone down, like TF, Asol, or Lissandra can. At best you can throw enemies into your team, but that makes your combo, the majority of your damage, significantly harder to pull off, depending on how everyone is positioned).
So to return to the question at hand. Are you guys looking to balance her further? Because she's your third newest champion and it already feels to a lot of us that she's getting the azir/kalista treatment, without ever showing herself on the competitive scale to be as ridiculousness good as Azir or Kalista. It almost feels like you guys are afraid of what she could be rather than what she showed she was. And that sucks because she is a really fun champion to play.
