So how can this be? LoL went down for me at 5am and it is now 12am and still down. Is Riot really this bad at keeping a game running? I have never seen this happen from any update they have done. I would imagine after nearly 8 years of this game being out Riot would not be having such basic problems. This is like problems Blizzard has with WoW and that game is a million times bigger. A client-based game is easy to fix, so Riot needs to get their act together.

The game is live for me, however to answer your question the most recent big update they did brought along with it a lot of bugs and what not so they have been working to fix them which often leads to other bugs showing up, it's not unusual for a game to have to deal with issues for longer than they originally thought which seems to be the case with Riot right now.
