Is there any reason Gangplank is still permabanned?

Gangplank is still permabanned in every draft game I play, right alongside Darius and Riven and the like.

But... why?

He's not nearly as overbearing now as he was for a while after they reworked him. He certainly isn't on the level of power that the other permabanned champions are on. Heck, when I play blind pick I still consistently see Rivens and Dariuses (Darii?) that don't get through in draft, but it's been a long time since I've seen anyone pick Gangplank in blind.

What gives? Why is Gangplank still permabanned? There are Champions much more deserving of a ban than him, but every game one of the teams wastes a ban making sure that Gangplank isn't in their games.

Ban is more or less just "I don't wanna see this guy".

LCS influence would be my guess.

Thing is, GP is insanely powerful when a team has that level of communication and coordination. If you take that away? Not nearly so much.

He's still strong, but playing a silent game with un-familiar team mates drops his impact quite a bit!

because he has the potential to solo carry a game? Most people do not know how to fight him for they are ignorant of his strengths and weaknesses. Its like Garen, he certainly is not ban worthy, and yet every game he is permabanned. Personally i think they are both a waste of a ban (mostly because im an ex-Garen main and would like my champion back) but people will ban what they fear and fear what they don't understand. Darius is odd because 99% of people agree he is no longer as powerful as he use to be but still they ban him...

I agree that he's not worth banning over Fiora and Darius at least.

Even in blinds, I rarely ever see another GP (even on his free week). However, Fiora Darius TahmKench are quite common. You're pretty much garen-teed to see at least one of them every game.
