Leveling up is ridiculous.

The notion of runes + masteries to curtail and hinder faster leveling is a joke, because it creates an unnatural advantage to those who have even two levels ahead of you. It's extremely ridiculous how low level players have to go through an unfair playing field just to get low amounts of exp and ip when they lose. Oh, and when you're level 18, too bad. You'll be against Level 20 players who have runes unlocked and thus thickening the divisive, unfair wall that keeps players from having fun instead of just getting shitstormed with a 17 v 47 kda.

The only time you achieve plurality in an equal playing field is when you reach level 30, which, even then, is still not easily done because you still have incomplete runes. Because assuming you're a new player, you're going to want to buy the champs that appeal to you, and forget about runes.

Its absurd how even a level can separate you from the rest of your teammates, and your enemies. Keystones add an inequitable power to those who have them. Five mastery points can be the difference between someone with extra MPen/Lethality.

And it doesn't help that smurfers talk trash to new players, because they can stomp games with the experience of the game. What's worse, though, is when smurfers are IN new players' games, and proceed to talk trash. On multiple games. On multiple occasions.

Before you say, "oh, those are just words," or "man up, it's the internet," or "you need a thick skin or get off and go back to neopets," let me tell you why trash talking is a complete disregard of a newcomer's experience. Treat these newcomers like babies born with a blank slate. The more they're exposed to vitriol like this, the likelier the chance they become one when they do end up on the other side of the fence. Hatred begets hatred, so on and so forth, and its unacceptable to excuse these kinds of behaviours. Going back on the newcomer's experience, they'll end up leaving the game and AFKing, even to the point where they won't log back in because the community is incredibly toxic, and is filled with enablers.

Riot, please do something about the unfair advantage people get when they're even a level ahead, and please, do something more pragmatically feasible with smurfers waddling and stomping in new players' games. Thank you.

A. You can mute toxic people.

B. Leveling used to be 100x worse. They are working on it, so calm the calamity, that is your mammaries.

A. Yes, I'm grateful for the option to mute, but surely there must be a way for Riot to effectively run a game with minimal toxicity.

B. "Oh, shut up about Hurricane Matthew. It used to be worse, like when Hurricane Katrina hit. Calm your mammaries." <-- putting your comment in perspective.

There's is a way, they can do a personality screening on every person who wants to play and only let the nice people in, but that is never going to happen.

And the 2nd point was that there was progress, and they are working on it. Kicking and screaming isn't going to do anything but speed up the process and make the end result a pile of shit.

you do know how easy it is to fool those screenings. All you have to do is chose the nice answers and there you go. You will still be a toxic player if that was your intention. All a personality screening would do is make it more tedious and annoying to play the game which would hurt the new playerbase while providing literally no benefit whatsoever

I suggested for a for-profit company, to screen potential consumers, and then to bar said consumers who didn't meet some arbitrary standard on a test that has as much credibility as a polygraph test.

But sure, i wasn't being sarcastic ( /s, just for you)

Oh, I don't know, maybe develop a system which detects verbally abusive keywords and respond with a swift and increasingly harsh punishment for repeat offenders? Just a thought.

Except I'm not kicking and screaming. I'm expressing a dissatisfaction with the current system and hope that these problematic incidents are rectified sooner than later. Don't mistake my post as crying and wailing. You'd know better to distinguish between a hissy fit and a well-thought complaint.

Riot can deter people from being assholes through punishments like chat restriction and ban but it's ultimately up to the person to stop being an asshole themselves. So really Riot can't do anything more right now to stop toxicity.

you should be worrying less about your opponents and more about learning the game and getting a firm grasp in how the game works. Yes it sucks that your opponent has that one extra rune slot or that extra few mastery points but even then the differences aren't so huge that you wouldn't even stand a chance against the dude you are playing. It's at most something like +1 armor, +2/3 AD/AP and whatnot. It's not something that would put you in such a disadvantage that you auto lose. Those players, just like you, are learning the game so they cannot use the few extra stats to their full potential

You should just be muting anyone who starts acting like a toxic asshole, that will save you a lot of pain and sanity in the long run

What do you say about smurfers, though? They've got experience and with a Keystone, its almost like new players are walking down a lane to the slaughterhouse.

you play the game and move on 20 or so mins later. You are more than likely never going to see that player again and smurfs are detected relatively quickly and put in queues with other smurfs Riot isn't against smurfing so there really isn't much anyone can do about it except take the few games you will see them and move on.

You do know about the Runes Reforged thing coming out at Pre-Season correct? Problem solved.

L1L2OPvMFe3 votes

That's four or so months from now, so you can come back when that happens and say "Problem Solved."

For a new player, those a little weaker runes won't mean a thing, skill gap there is much more important.

For a person leveling up their 2nd account.... ya, it might be annoying, but a question is, why are they leveling up a 2nd account? If it's after being banned, I don't see it not being easy as a big downside, there should be some consequences to being banned.
