Balance Reminder for Riot and Community
TLDR: Balance posts are great, but complaining about X champ being good or bad is not helping to create a discussion. Without a discussion, there is little that these posts are actually doing to help solve the (sometimes) valid problems that cause the OP/UP of a champion. Remember Bill Nye at the top of this board. Riot please try to reply to more threads.
So I've been crawling this board for the past few weeks, and have seen an influx of champion related posts that imo are doing little more than create background noise. The sad part is that people sometimes have very real reasons to be annoyed with a champion (be they OP or UP), but the way the posts are made, they don't get to the heart of the problem. There is a brilliant post featuring Bill Nye stuck to the top of this board that can help, but if you are like me, you looked at it once the first time you came here and stopped looking at it there after. So allow me to reiterate the factors involved:
- Skill level - some champions are harder to play (or play against) than others, and while some are hard to play against at low elo, they seem more balanced at higher ranks (or vice versa)
- Professional play - This is where the best of the best go, and so the skill level is as close as it can get. This is the reason a lot of balance decisions seem to revolve around it.
- Current environment - As new items and metas are introduced, random buffs and nerfs can happen to compensate.
PLEASE TRY TO WORK THESE ELEMENTS INTO YOUR COMPLAINTS (preferably all but at least have 1).
If you don't talk about these elements than the conversation breaks down into simple bias opinions, and the only conversation you are likely to receive is from people who agree with you. Receiving simple confirmation is good for ones ego, but useless when you want Riot to take action.
AN EXAMPLE: "Rengo is out of control with no counterplay and a kit that can 100-0 any squishy. Nerf please." (Full disclosure I don't care one way or the other about Rengar as I play WW who has a way more broken ult imo. This example should be extended to any champion you want to have a real discussion about)
Ok, so you don't like the kitty, but this doesn't actually talk about the problem. He can kill a squishy, that's what assassins are made to do.
- Is the problem of no counter play only at my skill level - have I researched ways around his stealth ult and found nothing on the web besides pink wards? If I had a more cohesive team would they be able to save the squishy?
- Is there any proof of this in professional play - have I looked up ban rates win rates etc? While its true that these metrics are not the end all and be all, it does help to have some hard statistics to point to.
- Is it a problem with the environment - Have there been any recent patches without compensation nerfs? (note the assasin item has not been released yet, and untill it has been and Rengar hasn't been nerfed don't rely on speculation).
If I did my homework either my problem would go away, or I would have a much better argument that would help me articulate my point to both dissenters and Riot employees.
TO RIOT - Part of the reason I think these posts are constantly coming out is that while one person has a valid point with homework to match, they never get a reply. Then a lot of people jump on the bandwagon and make follow up posts that drown the well written post into obscurity. Discussion among our peers is great, but unless we here from you, the people who can actually change the game or tell us why you won't change it, we feel that we must keep trying. Something as little as: "Yeah we're looking into this", "It's not in our future plans because we want to focus on X", or "We think he's in a pretty good spot because X" is really helpful to us. Also, if you see a valid complaint but aren't the right person to reply, telling us that you will find the right person and let them know goes a long way as well.
Thank you all for reading :)

Let's not get stupid and talk about a pro versus a nub. For pros,
