Skarner, the forgotten cool crystal scorpion

Skarner looks and sounds cool but he just doesnt have a character and needs some buffs or preferably rework/mini rework here are some of my ideas for skarner:

passive: i like this passive but i would change it so that with every 7 mins of the game you get to place your crystal wherever you want. this way you can plan your strategy and wont be empowered on useless areas

his q is a bit boring... hmm... maybe deals aoe damage and shields based on the number of enemies hit ( since i will remove the shield on w ) and deals extra damage to monsters ( his current jungle clear is really weak, i havent seen a skarner with higher cs than the enemy jungler ever in my life ) and after few seconds he can cast q again to empower his next auto to slow the enemy and reduce its armor and mr by 4-20% based on skill level if that enemy has been hit by first q cast

he is supposed to be kind of a predator which hides and then jumps out to ult you and take you to his team, how about this for w ability: on first cast create crystal dust around you which makes enemies inside have nearsight to you and enemies outside dont see inside crystal dust at all, on second cast dig yourself in the ground which makes you invisible except if an enemy steps on you ( second cast can only be inside the crystal dust ) and finally on third cast jumps out dealing small aoe damage around and gains movement speed based on skill level ( this way you can hide and then jump out and ult the crucial targets, have nice escape tool and its good when ganking since enemies wont see anything around

his e and ult i like and would leave them only maybe extend ult duration by 0.5 sec on all ranks since we have much more devastating ults compared to his current one

I think that this rework would make him really have that character of a scorpion that plays with its pray before leaving his team to finish it.

I just played him as a support His kit seems designed around supporting Crystalize is his bread and butter R so you can pull them behind turret Good times ahead

Its interesting to be sure, but I am not a fan of it:

Skarner, for me, was the inescapable hunter. He ran you down. The Crystal Spire passive is absolutely trash, and was a poor attempt (in my opinion) to pay homage to a deleted game mode. (RIP dominion.)

Skarner, just before the juggernaut changes, was in my mind exactly what he needed to be. He had ramping attack/movespeed on Q, sustained damage pattern cc (passive), A slow, and his ult, which had the option of having more damage via passive, or the ability to chain it with the inital stun.

You still had the kiting weakness, but good players where able to find a way around it. He scaled well as a 1v1 duelist, but still had a niche role as a secondary engage tank, or as a vangaurd (peeling tank) in bigger team fights. He was a pick fighter, and a pretty good and underrated one in my opinion.

When juggernaut changes happened, he was way over tuned, E became his best max skill (Slow, Damage, Stun+burst damage, Passive stats for 1 second [attack/movespeed+ Mana regen], self cooldown reduction per stun proc.), and they nerfed him into a state of uselessness. Everything is on E now, and Q is just a poor scaling sheen proc.

I don't like ideas that have Skarner burrowing, we already have Rek'Sai. As far as Lore goes, if Skarner was to have a burrowing skill, it would pretty much be to hide or sleep, not hunt.

I had attempted a rework idea for him that tried to center his play around being "charged with crystal energy" which, for me, was kind of his unique take on resource if you took that route. Idea inspired by what was ORIGINALLY his bread and butter skill, Q: "Skarner charges himself with Crystal Energy, empowering this ability..."

Short version: Passive is now Crystal Energy, Skarner's unique resource. Auto attacking and using Crystal Slash gather crystal energy. The more energy he has, the faster he moves/attacks. (up to a cap, obviously), Energy falls off as Skarner moves around and uses abilities other than Q.

Q: Same, gathers energy per enemy hit, does bonus magic damage while skarner has Crystal Energy available.

W: No longer grants a shield, still has the ramp up movespeed. Uses Crystal Energy to regen HP based on missing health. Passive: Exoskeleton: Skarner gains AR/MR based on his current crystal energy.

E: Costs Crystal Energy to fire, no longer slows missile speed as it passes through targets. Targets are marked, procing mark stuns enemy for 1 second and restores extra crystal energy.

R: Same effect: Skarner gains Crystal Energy from using this skill, both times that it does damage.

Ctystal Spires work wonders on Howling Abyss. But I do see how it can be frustrating on larger maps. Summoner's Rift does have these strategically placed at key camps- dragon, baron, and both red and blues. But that does leave a niche in ganking potential as far as the whole kit is concerned.

Skarner used to have a purpose with his old kit. I mean his OLD kit. He was the sticky tank that just would not let you go. He didn't do a lot of damage but once he got to you he never lost you. It even had decent AP ratio on his QER. His 2nd kit, which I thought was his best kit, actually gave him a passive. His stun was attached to his Q and required you to hit a player 3 times with skills before it could proc. This was a better set up than this current kit since you couldn't just immediately stun someone, you had to work for it. He was given scaling passive attack speed from both his Q and his W but his damage was still low, so that was the trade off. This 3rd kit, which is an abomination, needs to be reverted. Having a passive that only sits in specific areas of the map, which can be turned off is stupid. Imagine the outcry if Yasuo's crit could be turned off.

Honestly he just needs to be reverted back to his 2nd kit. Tweak the attack speed bonus from Q and W and you have a fair champion once again. This actually forces people to play Skarner appropriately as opposed to his current ER>AA, which is 1 dimensional and bland.
