adaptation isn't smart enough，I want ap in the early game，so my jack box can deal more damage，but the new rune system gives me ad，just because I play shaco，and he's always a ad champ.That's fucked up.I wanna get to choose ap or ad myself，or give me old runes back
WarHero543 votesOk first off, yes straight ap is dead BUT his AP scaling is really good. I made a new strategy and build that is so good to utilize boxes early game it's ridiculous with this new rune system also high-risk high reward Shaco style is back I main him top. AP Lethality build is basically all AP items with Duskblade to utilize the passive scaling you get with backstab and E ap scaling. With this rune build Shaco boxes after hitting the enemy champ 3 time with the additional damage boost will destroy mostly any top early game. Also I always steal red/blue before going top lane. Start off with dark ring and either start building duskblade first or nashoor's tooth for a quicker 3 hit damage amplifier. If you snowball and get enough stacks I usually replace boots with Luden's Echo.
Been using this AP lethality build before new rune system, but now that rune system doesnt give you armor and magic resistence right off the bat, boxes can shred hard early game.
The Adaptation runes work depending on what your items give more of ad or ap so I really dont have that problem when I get dark ring at the start of game it gives me AP.

Agent Corgi2 votesWhat scares me about this topic is that I fear that Riot will eventually kill off AP Shaco for good so they can focus on him being an AD Jungle Assassin. I remember back when Fiddlesticks was being updated with the 2016 Mage Update, someone asked if Fiddlesticks will get a VGU as his new passive would look even better if Fiddlesticks was brought up to date. They said that if they could, they would focus on making the Jungle-role Fiddlesticks's primary role. What does this have to do with Shaco? Shaco is Primarily played in Jungle as an AD Assassin & I believe Riot will most likely keep it that way when Shaco get's VGU'd. Unless they decide that his Versatility (Being able to build both AP & AD) should be preserved, this would more thank likely piss ALOT of people off who still enjoy AP Shaco (Myself included).
As for Season 8 Shaco, you'll just have to focus farming until you get enough gold to purchase enough AP to make it so you're Adaptive Damage prioritizes AP instead of AD.

Yea maybe I shouldn't have shared my strategy for ap shaco. Should have read your comment first lol. I mean I found a way to snowball hard but if you vs a tank top its hard to win if your jg doesn't gank for you. Knowing riot if my style of play get popular to shaco then they might nerf it. :(
Agent Corgi2 votesI don't think they'll nerf it, so you're fine. : ) They're more concerned with Yorick & Possibly the Strategy of Stacking Cleaver with the new Transcendence Rune (Excess CDR = MOAR AD/AP).
