So long from a player since season 1
As I've been playing on one account or another since season one, it seemed appropriate to write a goodbye of sorts. I've recently come to some revelations about by relationship with league as a result of my placement for the most recent season. I have very much enjoyed the continuing progress of the game, the updates to summoner's rift, the continuation of novel, interesting champions and the absolutely fantastic extras (the music, animations, etc), however my experience with the actual games played is generally...dysthymic. I've never been great at the game (up for gold V promos a few times, generally hovered in silver I), but the match matching really never felt appropriately. I found most game were routs in one direction or the other. Certainly I never not much enjoyment out of losing...but It was pretty rare to get enjoyment from a win either. The response to a win becoming more of a..It's about time I had a decent game, as opposed to a sense of accomplishment. Despite this, I belief I continued playing in part due to the time investment already in place, money spent on the game, a positive attitude towards riot and the above mentioned aspects of the game and the strong positive reinforcement from that occasional game that was actually enjoyable. My experience with the game hasn't been enjoyable for a while, more appropriately described by struggling frustration and dissatisfaction with general play with the hope that if I got a bit higher in the ranking the games would finally feel better (I think my maining support might be implicated here as well). Anyway, with the new season I'm now silver V and that tenuous balance between occasional positive reinforcement and lack of enjoyment has shifted with even less enjoyment with my matches (higher rates of afks, routs, and general poor sportsmanship) to the point I think I can more accurately look at my experience with the game. Coupled with increases in involvement in less frustrating, more generally enjoyable recreational activities..I think I can say its time to remove myself from my generally unhealthy experience with the game. I imagine I'll keep an eye on the art, music and other tertiary aspects which again...are fantastic. Anyway...cya.
