Matchmaking is freaking stupid

First game today My team - Silver 3 - Silver 5 - Silver 5 (me) - Bronze 2 - Silver 4 Enemy team - Silver 4 - Gold 5 - Silver 5 - Diamond 5 - Gold 5

Last game yesterday My team - Unranked - Bronze 2 - Silver 3 - Silver 2 - Silver 5 (Me) **Enemy Team **- Unranked - Gold 5 - Gold 5 - Silver 2 - Platinum 5

Someone please explain this nonsense to me. I would very much like to be matched against players of my skill level otherwise the game is a mismatch which is impossible to have fun in - I hate stomping people and i hate getting stomped. What could possibly be the point of matching me against (or with, for that matter) someone who is in diamond? I am SILVER 5. I do not mind the golds such much except for the fact that there is no balance between the teams (see above).

I sincerely hope this will be addressed in season 6 as this seems to happen more and more frequently. Uneven games are fun for no one.

Is this ranked? I actually like getting matched against higher ups in normals.

Putting Bronze vs Diamond in lane always leads to a balanced, intense game.

MMR is broken. However, the only way to get better is to play against people better than you. You'll learn a lot, might not be as fun as curb stomping noobs though.

I'm assuming this is in normals.

Ranked and normal mmr are completely seperate systems. They do however use the exact same methods. Thus if that diamond player played almost exclusively ranked, they could still have shit normal mmr.

A possible solution to this would be to have ranked mmr influence normal mmr, but not the other way around. (To prevent people from losing in normal games to get matched against shit teams in ranked and climb.)

**MMR - Match Making Rating ** Ranked games MMR does **not **correlate with normal games MMR.

As far as I know this has been discussed before - Normal Games MMR consists of numbers of games played/premades. However, I'm not 100% sure about this, someone else would need to confirm it.

I would very much like to be matched against players of my skill level

If that's the case play ranked.

I played against two platinums today (link below). I'm unranked, the highest we had was a silver 1 zilean. We won - easily. BinglinLi is a plat 4, lost lane to silver 5 Akali. SCARRRTA, another plat 5, lost lane to an unranked Lucian. Clearly eBay platinums. This was my first Rengar game ever other than coop vs ai games - none of this got us to lose to those "platinums".

It's annoying that skill varies a lot and matchmaking isn't perfect, but after today's experience I think there's truth to what others say about this: yes you lost, but not because those players are such a high rank; they actually play with an MMR that isn't too far from yours.

You think this is bad? My other account if I play a normal, it's highest rank gold 3 on my team, enemy has 3-4 diamonds and a plat or two. every game.

I'm usually pretty tolerant of my teammates as I don't play ranked and merely focus on playing the game better, but something does feel 'off' with matchmaking.

I usually play from midnight to ~3AM and the people that I've been playing with as of late--strictly in Team Builder where I generally queue up--have neither the communication skills nor general understanding of the game that I personally feel I do. Granted, I'm not a LOL Master Player but these people have no knowledge of lane control, the importance of map vision, how to pick teamfights wisely and how to focus the right people down....they all either play the game like Quake II (constantly going in for a big penta after going 1/4 or whatever in lane with no defensive items) or World of Warcraft (three enemy champions are rolling mid but everybody else is clearing jungle camps or deciding what they want to buy next in the shop).

Sorry if this comes off as a huge QQ post but try to see the issue from the scope that other players who might not be as good as you generally do. It does feel like a prevalent issue, in a game with an already-horrid learning curve--that people have been talking about for ages.

what I hate is when I get 2 silver 5's two golds 5's and myself (gold 3) and on the enemy team, 3 plat 3s, a plat 5 and a silver 3. That somehow have less MMR then my team combined but still proceed to shit on everyone on my team cause they have better mechanics then the other people on my team (I can generally win my lane matchup until outside of laning phase due to the fact that...irelia and similar champs op X3)

Was this initial placement?

Answer is that games arn't matched based on rank. They are matched based on MMR, which is not displayed. So either you are a hell of a lot better than your rank, or they are a hell of a lot worse than their's.

Matchmaking is based around MMR not shiny borders or rankings. These guys you were matched against probably had bad MMR or were on a losing streak.
