Get rid of positional rankings

Is anyone else as annoyed by positional ranks as I am? It blurs the goal of climbing and causes people not to care when they are not on their main role because winning on an off role is suddenly worth nothing to them. Back in the day, when I got autofilled to support I tried to play my best to win the game (and tbh it felt like a good break from jungling all the time). Now it seems like there's no point in trying so hard, and worst of all - there is no single ladder to rank all players, regardless of role. So even when I'm winning on my main role it doesn't feel like I won anything over the top laner or mid laner on the enemy team since we're not climbing the same ladder...it seems pointless and kills the fun of the climb.
