Possible change to bounty system

Okay so we all know that there is currently an issue with the way the bounty system is structured. Currently, it punishes players who get ahead instead of creating a meaningful way for players who are down in gold being able to get back into the game.

My proposal (not entirely thought out so please feel free to tweak and add to this):

Instead of having the bounty be on the player who is ahead in gold, the bounty should be moved to players who are behind the further behind you are the greater the bounty, when / if the player who is down in gold manages to get a kill they should be rewarded with the value of the bounty allowing them to catch back up and get into the game without punishing the player who is ahead.

I think this is a better solution and with some work could solve the problem, this rewards players who have fallen behind by allowing them to make high-risk high rewards plays and gives them a way to catch back up in the game. It also does not discourage big plays by players that are ahead because if they die to someone who doesn't have the bounty there is no risk and no gold turned over. It means that players who are behind need to proactively make effort to get into the game and if they do not they will see no benefits.

Let me know what you think or where you think it should be changed?

well, for starters wouldn't that allow the person that has all the kills to run around with more freedom since there is no longer a price on his head and additionally the enemy team is incentivised to try to kill the easiest target rather than the strongest?

So you are saying, instead of pinning the money on someone's head you give people who are behind the chance to get gold by grabbing a kill even if it is not a kill on the high winstreak enemy. Am I getting this right?

Yes, the further behind the larger that bonus gold would be. Allowing players who have fallen behind an opportunity to catch back up.

At the moment, the players who are likely to collect the bounty are the stronger members on the other team, all this does is allow one or two players to snowball but doesn't benefit the player who is behind (it can help someone catch up but this is an edge case and doesn't happen in the majority of cases).

with switching the bounty to the way I suggested, if the weak player isn't actively trying to take advantage and catch up they won't and the bounty isn't impactful. it also stops the strong player on the other team taking your 1000g bounty and managing to snowball. It becomes a pure catchup mechanic and not a snowball one that requires a level of high-risk high reward active gameplay.

For example: If you get camped hard for the first 3 levels and fall behind drastically in gold, take a risk and manage to outplay your opponent, the gold boost can get you back into the matchup. I don't think the bounty should catch you up in one go, possibly just a percentage of how behind you are.

what do you think?
