Hey guys, I was in a digital design class and I did a project on making an infographic and decided to make it about supporting in League of Legends, so here ya go. Hope you can take something away from it, whether it's design or gameplay. :) Thresh

Looks great man! one point of feedback, the pink/purple dots in the blue bushes is a bit hard to see. :)

Ah darn it, I knew it wasn't ideal haha, but I couldn't stand to take away from my color theme D: I appreciate the feedback :)

Mobility boot rush only when playing traditional hard roaming supports. If your ass is playing brand, vel'koz, zyra, zilean, etc... please don't.

Mobility boot rush is for characters like Alistar, Blitzcrank, Leona, Taric, Naut, Braum, Annie that have hard CC that can roam and help other lanes/jungle with little to no items.

I wish more people would realize this. Mobility boots aren't a universal "must have" for supports, but every champion I've seen played support I've seen with them at some point. If you're a tank, consider the tenacity from Mercury Treads. If the enemy team has 4 champs that deal primarily physical damage, Ninja Tabi would get some good use.

Supports whose effectiveness relies heavily on their position (ie Blitz or Thresh) benefit the most from Mobility boots. I swear if I see anyone else buy Mobility boots as Janna I'll probably let my team know that they don't know what they're doing.

I totally agree, I actually buy Boots of Lucidity just as much as Mobility. Great point, I'll be sure to change this if i ever get around to editing this :) thanks a lot for your feedback

It looks very nice and professional :) Good job. Support is my favorite role at the moment. Super satisfying to pull off some bad ass coordination with your ADC

Kapish1 votes

I appreciate that :) I'm glad to see there's a lot more people who have fun with the game even in roles that aren't dealing tons of damage :P

Is it ok if I make the enemy adc and supp go cry under tower with my poke? Sona

Karma good luck, you'll need it

Kapish1 votes

How about we let them come to us and make them cry when we summoner 4 Blitzcrank them under our own tower >:)

Don't rush mobi boots unless you roam a lot, you can always deep ward if you are careful, also everyone has to ward, add a "Remind your team they can also buy pinks or buy farsight." Never facecheck bushes, period. When harassing don't overextend yourself, poking is fine, getting caught because you wanted to land that AA or ability it isn't. Peel without running out of mana, remember that the adc will be mostly concerned about farming.

Edit: Also add that you can lure people out to destroy a ward, it doesn't always happens and it needs a lot of coordination, but if made right you can get ahead by awesome poke as they try to clean the ward or just get a kill in the best of cases.

Facechecking, when necessary, is a job for tanks, though slippery champions that can disengage themselves are the next best option. (Janna, Lulu)

Seriously though you're better off checking with Janna's tornadoes (grants vision) or Lulu's Glitterlance (You can tell if it hits someone or not by the spellthief passive procs)

Kapish1 votes

Plus the noise that certain abilities make (including Glitterlance) when they hit something even when it's out of vision :)

Yrzen1 votes

Yeah, though I find it's inconsistent whether the noise plays or not. I like to gauge with the spellthief procs, just to be safe.

Awesome additions and edits these are things I do, and I just don't really think enough about! Really appreciate the feedback

You should try to pick more contrasting colors; it's hard for me to see the purple ward dots against the dark blue and the thin text against the background.

Kapish1 votes

I was afraid of that, but I didn't want to stray too far from my theme of the select colors. What color do you think would work better? I appreciate the feedback man

Kapish1 votes

I just looked at it and realized how much quality my picture lost when I uploaded it which is a big reason why the purple dots are hard to see, do you know of any way I could upload it at full quality maybe for version 2?

Disclaimer: I'm not a designer, I just hang out with people that are and pick up on some of it.

Text against background could be much more contrasting, i.e. make the background lighter or the text darker. I understand you want to get the inverted text at the start, so it can't be too dark. But darker would be better.

Sort of see why wards are tricky; you have to stand out both against the light background and the dark blue. I was thinking of a light green(maybe even the green ward color), but it also wouldn't kill you to just make the dots bigger. If you had a higher resolution, you could even just make them mini green ward icons. Purple seems like a terrible color to me though; it's exactly between red and blue, so it doesn't stand out against either of the colors you're using.

You could also switch the blue side walls to be the dark blue, to match your dark red, and make the bushes a lighter, non-blue color that stands out from the blue background.

Other(non color) stuff: Your key is below all the maps, but you need to see the key to understand the maps(or, you don't need it at all if you made really good choices that are obvious to anyone).

Completely missed the fine print under the maps on the first read through, should stand out more; I think it's cause you made the font size too small.

Silhouettes take like 2 seconds to decipher on some of them; you could just use the actual icons.

Whenever I ward, I like to ping "on my way" so that my adc knows that I am warding. Additionally, warding isn't as simple as it seems. If your lane is getting pushed to tower and you're on blue side, it might not be the best idea to pink tri as the enemy botlane can easily force a fight once you're out of position. In laning, I only go for deep warding if our wave isn't pushing against us or if the enemy laners have backed (important note to shove your lane after the enemy laners have backed and if you are also about to back, so that they lose cs).

Knowing when to roam is another aspect of a good support. If you roam at the wrong time, your adc will get zoned by the enemy and you will lose pressure at bot.

It's also a great idea to learn match-ups and what you can and cannot do against certain match-ups in laning phase.

Yes yes yes, great to see some other support mains out there. :) While I had all of these in mind, I was a bit too overwhelmed by how to communicate these tips in a way that didn't require many lengthy paragraphs that look boring on a infographic :/ I really appreciate the feedback <3

Support doesn't have to face check the bush. The tank is the one that should. If you're a tank support...face check it.

If you're squishy, that's actually a bad idea.

Lastly, you want to heal anyone that's gonna die, but priority varies. That's dependent on the match, but it's usually gonna be someone with high damage, whether they're your adc/apc or not.

thanks,I'm absolutely terrible at the support role this may help

Kapish1 votes

Awesome! Glad to hear. If you decide to take advice from this post, be sure to read some of the suggestive feedback, because they point out a lot of stuff that I should change and add! Thanks for the feedback :)

Ooo not bad. I think this guide applies to meta and tank supports more in general, but you do have good enough tips for supporting IN GENERAL. Instead of warding at the river bush, sometimes it is far better to ward further depending on how well a support can peel (like for instance, Raka and Sona would have to ward further because of their lack of CC peels).

I have one little tiny problem, but the "warding point" should be bigger, more visible, and if you can, show where vision will be granted.

######No pun intended!

These are some great suggestions, I'm definitely going to have to implement these ideas if I go for a version 2 of this, which I might! :) Really appreciate it!

I run MS Quinn's on Janna and get boots of speed, between that, masteries and W I don't need mobility and in fight combat is easier to position because of it

Also that 18% move bonus for allies moving toward you with the boot upgrade is godly, I go tank Janna now and then and I engage, by the time they realize I'm a tank the fight is over. :)

Kapish1 votes

Haha awesome strategy, Janna is great Janna
