Soraka is not rewarding to play

The range on her skills is quite small.

It's easy to move out of her Q as it falls, and furthermore your W has such a short range that you have to get into almost melee range to even heal someone, meaning you'll most likely be at the front-line tanking all the AoE, dying instantly because of how squishy you are. Is she not supposed to be able to heal safely from the back-line, while also having to take a risk to walk up and plop down her AoE silence.

Her passive is 'okay' in my opinion. I feel the things hindering it now are her W, because of the short range.

The things I feel would make her feel more rewarding to play are:

  1. a higher range on her W. A noticeable range increase, not +50.
  2. lower damage on her Q, but make it easier to hit.
  3. What I don't understand is why her Q copy's old Viktor's Q mechanics, which people deemed useless, considering how he had to wait to be able to get the shield. She has to wait to be able to get the heal.

A shield is useless when you don't block anything with it while a heal will work as long as you have health to fill.

If anything, the delayed heal makes it better when Soraka is receiving counterpoke at full health.

  1. It could use some love, but considering how she can spam it now, I feel the trade off is fair. Nothing more annoying to go all in on a trade to have a healer stand behind a meatshield and you can't touch them without dying because you're low. Your range increase suggestion, since its small, is fine, though.

  2. Her Q is fine. I think your real problem with her Q is her max range Q. If you are actually in melee range it comes down incredibly fast, faster I think then even her old Q, so its fine. Also if you lower the damage and make it easier to hit, you'll probably have to lower the heal on it as well because its easier to hit.

  3. I don't like it either, but Viktor's shield was more designed so he could trade. The shield is temporary, so it not being instant was bad. The heal is fine because you are healing your HP, something that isn't temporary.

You're supposed to harrass with E instead of Q. It does the same damage for the same mana, can't miss, has a bigger AoE, the bonus effect is better (and requires more effort to avoid) and it also has a silence. Use Q only when E is on cooldown.

That's advice to die from. E is her only CC, it is her only way of mitigating dmg and her only somewhat reliable way to disengage.

The adc harrasses, you fallow up and make sure he doesn't die. That's the best thing you can do as Soraka.

You mean the adc doesn't harrass, gets hooked and flames you for not harrassing. Amumu

Soraka isn't a scrub support, you shouldn't play her with bad adcs who have no idea how to play with Soraka, well you shouldn't do that and expect to do well. You're just asking for a frustrating game at that point.

If you want to play her in normals, just ask, say "hey I wanna play Soraka, are you decent at adc and willing to harrass allot?". If they're fine with that, say how you spam heal and peel.

Anyways, spamming E for harrass is supposed to stop a thresh?? Most of the time, the only thing stopping a good thresh from walking up to your adc and shoving him out of CS or flay->hooking, is your silence and root. Placing it on the thresh after he flays so he can't fallow up with death scentence or in front of the enemy adc so when he walks into auto range he can't use abilities and might get rooted, placing it on the thresh so he can't fallow up death scentence with flay/ult... that's all good stuff and will win you guys fights.

Spamming a 20s CD for 50-80 dmg... well that kinda won't.

Kind of agree.

My first thought upon playing the new Soraka was that she can be a lot of fun to play, but can't really carry or impact a game greatly, if at all after the laning phase.

Still a lot of fun to play when you're on the winning side, but compared to a handful of other supports who can actually dictate the outcome of a fight, it kind of sucks.

I've found I enjoy her, since playing her effectively is actually quite nicely rewarding. That's just me.

She's not supposed to be rewarding, she's supposed to heal herself to death.
