Immobile mages

Hi there , I play alotta mid and really enjoy playing a variety of immobile mages but with the dynamic of the game changing I have found it increasingly difficult to survive due to the abundance of burst and lack of Frontline. I was just curious what other mid lane mage players thoughts where. Maybe a new item could be introduced tuned to helping mages survive ? Like that new spear item for top lane but tuned to give mages damage reduction if caught out or something. I know mid lane Champs are supposed to be easy to burst but I think we gotta be thrown a bone here.

Thoughts ?

It's a hard time being an immobile mage main atm really. Riot nerfed everything about Sorcery tree as well as waveclear (though, justified) and mana regen which in turn made it so assasins are now dominating midlane. With the addition of even more damage and mobility to the game as well as ways to avoid damage (untargetability/invincibility/invisibility etc.) immobile mages suffer as a class. Pretty obvious that this season Riot had huge bias towards AD dmg dealers, in previous seasons as well. Yes, mages need more ways to survive all this bs that is this meta of burst/one shot damage. Though I might just make a whole topic on my own about that.

They're still decently strong as a class (presumably because they are extremely useful in teamfights), it just feels like garbage playing as one. Especially during the laning phase.

You're reliant on dodgeable skillshots and cooldowns for all your damage, lane opponents have multiple options to mitigate your burst (Nullifying Orb, Hexdrinker, QSS/Merc) while mages have one AP/armor item in return, and even tanks have enough damage to kill you if they get on you.

Sadly Riot hates mages but you can try Vladimir or Zoe .

Technically there is almost no mobile mage in the game. (Except for Leblanc if you count her as a mage.) But there are some semi-mobile mages: Ahri (Insane cooldown) Azir (Takes more than one ability) Lissandra (Too slow) Ziggs (Too slow)

Remaining mages (about 85%) are immobile while some of them have speed boosts in their kits like Karma, Orianna and Zoe .
