god this fucking broken item. Build it 1st item and you're unkillable.

  1. You get the same fucking AP that you get from a rabadon's
  2. get the same health as from a warmog's
  3. get a shit ton of mana with it

it pisses me off seeing burst mages building this shit because they become tanky as fuck and deal way too much damage

Rod of ages was probably the only ap item that didn't get butchered on patch 5.22.

There are a lot of people that are tanky right now that shouldn't be, I'm not sure you should be out for mage blood primarily in this meta

First of all, we can already see your childish nature through that abrasive "come at me, kids". Second item 3027 is a great way for mages and ap assassins to have some form of sustain, especially when you have to be in close quarters with the enemy like Diana and Fizz . It is pretty difficult to build item 3157 right of the bat. Third, we don't get the same amount of ap as item 3089, because of its passive which is the 35% ability power increase. Fourth, item 3083 health is +850 hp while item 3027 sits at +500 hp, PLUS you have to have 3000 hp for item 3083 passive to even activate. And lastly the mana is great but nothing to cry about if a mage builds a item 3070 to make item 3040 or item 3042. Bonus information on item 3027 , we have to wait for all the stats to come into play, it doesnt have all these stats from the beginning, so even buying it right after, some mages still get deleted.

Honestly your arguement has no anchor anywhere in it. It's very sad to hear that a mage built a item 3027 against you and you found it hard to handle...

Please don't do this too yourself. None of us want to catch second hand embarrassment*[slayer-jinx-unamused]* .

The item isn't toxic, it's just overtuned. They should be sacrificing stats but they're not. Generally the trade off is the lack of CDR but that's not too big a deal in a meta where everything gets one-shot.

item 3027 Stats at 10 stacks:

  • 300 (+ 200) Health, Total 500 Health
  • 400 (+ 400) Mana , Total 800 Mana
  • 80 (+ 40) AP, Total 120 AP

Passive

  • This item gains 20 health, 40 mana and 4 ability power every minute, up to 10 times.

Unique – Valor's Reward: On leveling up, restores 150 health and 200 mana over 8 seconds.

item 3083 stats:

  • +850 health
  • +200% base health regeneration

Passive

  • Grants Warmog's Heart if you have at least 3000 maximum health.

Unique – Warmog's Heart: Regenerate 1.5% maximum health every half-second (15% maximum health every 5 seconds) if damage has not been taken in the last 8 seconds.

item 3040 stats:

  • +1000 mana
  • +50% base mana regeneration
  • +80 ability power

Passive

  • Unique – Insight: Gain ability power equal to 3% of your maximum mana.

Active

  • Unique – Mana Shield: Drains 20% of your current mana to shield yourself for an equal amount plus 150 for 3 seconds (120 second cooldown).

item 3089 stats:

  • +120 ability power

Passive

  • Unique: +35% ability power

Only thing you got right in your whole argument is the amount of AP you get is the same as a Rabadon's without its passive... Though it takes 10 minutes to get to that point.

A item 3003 gives you more mana then a stacked RoA anyways. And finally Warmogs has WAY more health then it...

Cute, an AP item being broken in a meta where APs are virtually extinct.

first of all, rod of ages takes time to ramp up. If you're not doing something while it's still in the early stages where it's still relatively weak, then that's your own fault.

you dont get the same ap as rabadons, rabadons has 30% bonus ap passive meaning that it's 120 + 30% = 156 ap and further boosting all ap gains by 30% as well.

it might give the same hp as warmogs, but warmogs has hp regen and a stronger hp regen passive when you're out of combat for a period of time. RoA has no hp regen at all outside of the small hp/mana boost by leveling up where it tries to help you sustain a bit.

take advantage when mages are building roa's pieces first, catalyst just gives a bit of hp/mana, no ap or offensive stats. take advantage that they're getting a blasting wand and not a large rod meaning they have to miss a fat ap item for a lesser one because they need the gold for suby/sapphire/catalyst components and are not as bursty as other first-item paths.

Stow the macho act in the overhead compartment before takeoff.

The main disadvantage of the Rod of Ages is it's a giant stat stick with no Unique Passive other than a health/mana boost on level up and slowly getting better over time. It doesn't have the shield or AP boost of Archangel's Staff, it doesn't multiply your total AP by 35% like Rabadon's Deathcap, and it doesn't give you ludicrous HP regen like Warmog's.

When it comes to items, people generally build items for their unique passives first, and the stats second.

It doesn't give the same HP as warmogs. If it did, then I'd build it on Sion more.
